Anyone Kicked Methadone?

Well I have been on 50mgs of methadone for about 5 years and last week I made the switch to sub. I didn't taper down, but I did wait a full 72 hours before taking the sub. My sub dose is 8mgs twice a day. The first day on the sub I got little relief and the 2nd and 3rd days weren't exactly DisneyLand. Just when I was starting to loose hope I woke up this morning (day 5) feeling like a new man. Anyone else kick methadone with sub, if so elaborate please. Peace

I didnt use sub to quit it.....but I have used sub and I did quit a good methadone dose. My guess would be that you were over the ceiling that sub would take care of immediately. Most docs wont switch you unless you are at 30mg methadone or less......And with larger doses of methadone there is a "time lag" for effectiveness of the sub....
