Anyone else addicted to FIORICET??

Anyone else addicted to FIORICET??

Any of you all addicted to Fioricet?  I have been taking it on and off for my headaches/migraines for over 20 years... but started abusing it about 7 years ago.   have sometimes been taking 13-25 a day.... and each pill has the caffeine equivalent to 2 cups of coffee!!  It's such a vicious cycle like any other pain med....  when you take too many, you need more to feel the same, and with this medicine, if you take too many you GET worse headaches.... then, when you stop taking this med, you rebound headaches!  It is sooo awful...

thanks for taking the time........

Currently, the fioricet without the codeine.  I haven't been able to get those for at least a year.....  So many people have never even heard of fioricet!  It's that damn barbituate in it that is addiciting...........  I wonder if the Suboxone would help with this... I know it is used for other pain meds.... hmmm

I took both fioricet and fioricet #3, they can be addicting, and your right about the rebound headaches. Suboxone will not help as far as I know with  getting off that drug. You're going to have to go ct or wean down.   Can you talk to the DR giving you the rx about it?
Good luck to you!

that is an extremely high dose...you should know that barbiturate tolerance is very different than tolerance to other things. you need more and more but the lethal dose remains the same...so if 1gm is the lethal dosage, it won't change just because you've built a tolerance to the effects of it.

i would find a taper plan immediately. you are very close to that lethal dose mark. barbiturates are so rare that most people don't understand the addiction. it's not something that you take once and become addicted to. it develops over time, but it's a very strong addiction once it develops.

in any event...i wish you the best of luck.

Sub would not be used for butalbital ....... it should be tapered long and slow. Listen to toejam above .... most people have never even heard of fiorcet - let alone know what to do about it.....

wow I'm suprised on the reviews you are geting not a hold lot of support from you guys out there. Let me tell you from experience that she can get off  the fiorcet and yes you guys are right about one thing it dose take long and slow to get off of this. so the other thing you don't have to be such a smart a-- about as like no body has heard about this. I have and I came off 20 pills a day it took long hard work. If you need any advice e-mail me you can do this just hang on there is people on here that will help and give a little bit more support. fen...perhaps you could share your experience. there are those very interested in hearing it...including myself. barbiturates are very difficult to w/d from because it can actually kill you if you do it from a high dose....so what method did you use, if you don't mind me askin? and how long were you taking them before you stopped?

i think sharing that may help others with the same problem.
