Anyone here know????

Hey I have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis bummer
Well now I am on predinsone 40 mgs a day for 2 weeks then 35 a day for 2 weeks and on and on
Anyone here know if this drug is addictive or if the side effects of it or harsh so far it has seem to make my stomach feel worse than before I satrted this drug I have been on it for 3 days today makes the 4th day ???????

Thanks alot I have to take it twice a day at the moment but I am taking it with food I split it as 4 in the morning and 4 at about 3 oclock I will stick it out I just thought that the diarreah would subside once I started this drug

Yes it can give you upset stomach.  Try taking it with food, and take it in the morning, it can keep you awake if taken at night.  It is not addictive, but you have to taper it when coming off.  It's nothing like tapering opiates, just need to taper for kidney's sake.  Let your doctor know if the stomach discomfort becomes unbearable.  They may have to lower your dose, but then you'll be on it for longer.  If you can tolerate it, i'd just stick it out.  It will really help the Ulcerative Colitis.
