To Prodigal Girl: The buspar actually takes the edge off my anxiety without the "high" or "groggy" feeling I got from xanax. I was told it could take a little while to work, but my anxiety was down an hour after I took the first one. I also agree with it being mind over matter. if I didnt want it to work I really think it would not have worked. Good luck to you. Let me know if it works for you.
Again thank you all for your kind words, help and support. God Bless
I can relate to you, I have the same addiction, but not for 8 years, for about 3 to 4 only, same high dose.
I started tapering down in July if I recall right and Had my ups and downs, sometimes almost gave up. I suffered from the really frustrating muscle cramps associated to the Xanax withdrawal, specially In my upper back, shoulders and my neck, sometimes or most of the time this felt as an intense pain with tender points and burning like sensation, gave me the chills to apply anything to it, heater pads helped a bit but not much, so far my doctor has not found a muscle relaxer that works for me, I had little anxiety whatsoever and oddly no flat feelings, just edgy and irritable, lack of sleep too.To me the key is to withdraw very slowly to avoid undesirable withdrawal effects, I found that reducing 0.25mg every 2 or 3 weeks is more pron e to go easy in your body, tried a couple of times to do it faster and, oh boy, I will not desire this to my enemies, if any. I forget to mention, headaches leading to migraines are also a problem I found. Yes, this way is slow, but secure and you will most likely succeed rather than give up and relapse.
Good luck, feel free to contact me if you need some other advise or support.
