Anyone with answers

Was in a motorcycle crash 2.5 years ago been using pain medication since. Long story short started abusing then my chick got hooked on them too. Went from using about 10 30mgn roxycet a day and weened us down to 1half per day thinking there wouldnt be a horrible detox phase.   On hour 28 and it *****. I can deal with cold chills. But the back pain and anxiety are still intense. I have a fast metabolism and was hoping that by cutting down to 1 a day it would at least shorten the crappy feeling phase? Is that logical or will i feel like this for weeks?

58 hours in actually slept last night! Woke up and though my back hurt- all my anxiety has left. As has my cold chills and nausea! So glad i weened down before quitting so the detox process was shortened. Though i dont have as much energy as normal for the first time in along time i didnt feel i needed medication to start my day:) got up took my dogs on a run and am heading to a NA meeting.  Thanks to every one who posted on here so grateful for this website.  And if your in the detox process and just browsing while feeling ******, dont give in. It may feel like forever but it does fade.  Thanks everyone for all your advise and comments!

You hit on something that a lot of people going through detox forget about - "I remember how happy I was before I started using pain meds...".  Hold on to that. Look forward to it.
And three things I recommend - cut all sources, tell your secret, and get aftercare. Those are the foundation to recovery. During detox try to eat; drink Ensure if you can't. Drink lots. If you're visiting the bathroom a lot, try to find a drink with electrolytes added.
It will end in a few days. And you'll be back to living clean.

On hour 36-28 drinking alot of water and red bulls( read that the niacin helps flush the system). Had my doc about 3 months ago stop writing me scripts been wanting to quit for so long. Hve been sellin em in order to cover my cost so just changed my number so i dnt get tempted when people call me looking for fix. I had 6 years of sobriety before this accident that led me to relapse and all of my old behavior. My doctor told me with the small amount i use now i should feel better at around 72-86today hours. Trying to stay focused on my reasons for quitting- my dogs- to start working out again and above all to stay out of jail. If i get another felony il be a habitual criminal.  I remeber how happy i was before i started using pain meds when i was completely sober from everything and i desperately want that back.  Im glad i found this site- Reading others posts and even typing on my phone to post takes focus off the anxiety and pain. Thanks for replying. Feels good to know theres others out there that have gone through the same or worse. Not saying im glad people have gone through worse detox -dont wish that on anyone. More sayimg its nice that others take time to try to help one another through hard times even if there complete strangers. Kind and motivational words mean alot:)

Generally, weaning down is only helpful if you do it slowly. Taking that half now is just prolonging your misery.

What are you doing to help this detox? Are you drinking Gatorade and flushing your system? Taking vitamins and minerals? Check out the health pages link from this page. There's the Amino Acid Protocol that really helps. There are also plenty of OTC meds that may help.

Get rid of the pills you have in the house. They won't help now. Post back with questions...

Hi Ghost, You've done a good thing here, as bad as you feel it is softer from your weening. The anxiety sux's I know. The number one thing that helped me is to keep moving, exercise even if it's just a walk. When your in motion, the internal trembling will settle. Hot baths, calming teas, music. Also, your pain will get less in a day or two. It's your mind tricking your body into using. Most important.....DON'T USE, just for today. It's this phase of detox that has some relapsing to "just ease the pain", don't buy into that. 28 hours is GREAT, Lord knows you don't wan't a rerun on those days. Strength is headed your way!

Hi and welcome!! You will find a lot of good people here with great advice. The first week, AKA HELL WEEK, is the worst. You will feel so much better once you get through it. Are you taking any supplements to help you out? Many on here reccommend the Thomas Recipe. I did not use any supplements during my withdraw, and found I was sleeping well and recovering well without them. Everyone is different though, so do what works for you. You are making the right choice to get off the pills. Your life will be do much better off of them. Good luck to you, keep posting....it really helps!!! :)
