Anything herbal for anxiety?

WELL, now I don't want to take xanax anymore here on day 10....but my anxiety is still getting the best of me. what can I do?!?! Is there anything herbal that will help me? I used melatonin last night with a small amount of xanax and slept for 14 hours! AMAZING!! But, I really need help with this anxiety...sick of feeling like I'm going to have a heart attack at any moment..but I also DO NOT want to be addicted to xanax. I'm fighting one addiction, I sure as heck don't need another! thanks guys! xo

I'm going to try the valerian root. I'm pretty sure I can't take St Johns Wort because I'm on 10mg of lexapro. anyone?!

yes, you should not mix St. Johns with SSRIs.

thanks, thought I'd read that somewhere before! :) valerian root it is. and a slow taper off the xanax. I'd been taking .25mg to sleep for about 5-6 months....since I went cold turkey off norco, I use 2mgs some days. WAY too much... anyone have any advice on this? what can I expect after being on xanax for about 6 months? xoxoxo

I bought a mixture herbal sleep aid... it had valarian root, melatonin, l-tryptophan (the turkey stuff that makes you sleepy) and lavendar. It has been helping quite a bit- but I have also been taking about 0.25mg of xanax almost everyday and now I have to taper off of it-- ugh!!
