Are headaches usual in recovery?

I came of subs in Feb, then used hydracodine, to help me through taper for about 5 weeks, I then tapered from them. been drug free for about 6 weeks, but suffering from really bad headaches, in temples and neck pain where can't move neck, like when you've pulled muscle. Is this normal?? Having a lot of stress at moment, with 5 kids and partner on sub, I was on methadone before sub, if anyone can help, would be very grateful, thanx

You have explained my EXACT headaches I developed after quitting hydro. I kept thinking I had a sinus infection or pulled neck muscle causing it. It will go away, promise. This happened each of the 3 times I detoxed and lasted around 9 days. Drink lots of water, go to a steam room if you can, microwave moist towels and place  over your eyes and lay still, if possible get a massage. Advil also did wonders as well as an anti-inflammatory. Hope this helps. Hang in there......your doing great!

it maybe stress related.as am sure you know stress makes all your muscles tense, causing you to stress and the circle goes round and round. And the internal battle between good and evil causes stress. Have you tried meditation or yoga? Maybe try valerian root for sleep i find it really helps me relax.take care

Go get your neck adjusted if you think that would help.  I have to get massages and adjustments all the time for the stress.  It helps me.  Hang in there.  It will end.  It does not feel like it now.  Let us know WendyJones

I wish it was a pullled muscle, but comes on later in day mainly evenings. Tried bats and massage, nothing helps , just always there. Tried ibuffen, paracetamol, nothing helps , if continues , will see doctor. Its like my body's telling me tot take pill, to make it go, but resisting, so hard trying to get through day. l

sounds like you may have a pulled neck muscle from restless sleeping!  A good massage might help if you can afford it!  Keep up the good work!

Tried ibuprofin, not helping, I know a pill will help, but no access to any, and trying to stay strong. Not sleeping well, maybe thats contributing. i thought I'd won the battle, but realise its ongoing. thanx for letting me know it will get bettter. Just at times feels like its taking over.

Any type of pain coming off of any opiate is normal. It is your brain telling you that you need pain pills. Plus stress can cause headaches. Take a couple Tylenol and IB-Profin and of course eat and sleep right. Don't take to much though because it can be bad for you. If it persists for too long see your doctor. And if you feel like using, hit a meeting or even message me, I will talk you out of it, well try anyway. I have 7 months and I'm feeling much better. GL
