Question

I have never heard of the lidoderm patch. If I may ask why you use it, and why do more doctors not prescribe it.  Does it really work.  I have nerve pain.....would it work for that.  When I talked to my surgeon he told me that meds really are not a good solution for me because they dont work for nerve pain??? and that physical therapy is out of the question because it will do nothing for "nerve pain".....I have been reading a lot of your posts lately and i must admit......I thought you were a just a disgruntled ex-addict.  Underneath your angry exterior you really are a wonderful person.  I've learned so much more of your story and I understand you now why you are the way you are and its ok........Respect is earned, and you have earned mine.  whoopie ****....I'm sure your saying.......lololol

I just read up on it a bit. I'm surprised they give them out, the site had a big warning about the dangers of using it, how it can lead to death and damage to the localized area if used incorrectly. I suppose it's better than vicodin, though.

It is a local anesthetic that numbs the area. (Lidocaine) Not an opiate...I have to stay away from them altogether.

What exactly is Lidoderm? Is it a narcotic (opiate) type drug or something else?

I also use the lidoderm patches.  I have herniated discs also L4-L4 L5-S1 and it has helped alone with Ibuprofen.  I have terrible sciatica so I know what you are talking about.....I get a burning sensation from my right gluteus down my right leg.It is usually tolerable using those methods....I only really suffer on long car rides!  Sorry for jumping in to your thread but just wanted to share!

I tore it 5 weeks ago the pain is not to bad now unless I do a lot of bending or long rides in my car.....

It was perscribed to me because I tore a disc....
I herniated L5   S1 and it is really sore but I will not take any narcotics...........so I use what
is available for pain......
I have had to miss a little work but my boss is really cool about it he knows my back was really sore some days........
