Hey Lisa,
Ive had a few flare ups over the last 7 weeks or so Ive been off the painkillers.    Before and after work I use a heating pad over a back board (like a heating pad but firm).   I also have a shiatsu massager that I use.    I take extra strength tylenol or aleve.   I have the lidacaine patches but cant really tell if they are working or not.  I just do everything I did before I used the opiates nad although it doesnt take away the pain completely, it does help.   I can still work and when Im busy it helps keep my mind off of the pain.

Dont go back now, babe.  You have worked so hard to get to where you are.   Exercise, ask for physical therapy, just bring out all the big guns and dont go back to the pills.

hugs

I didn't think about a heating pad, I will try that and see what happens. I figured it would make me stiff.....we'll see. THanks...

I too, have a hour and a half drive, up and hour and a half back, planned for Friday night and usually would get pills for the ride...but I am not going to cave in this time.........I am gonna keep going. I am proud of myself and feeling good...Thanks Ken...

can you get up and do a little streching for 3 minuets per hour? try a different seat type? the  big inflateable balls are good.
i believe it takes a couple months for our bodies to begin pruducing natural pain killers and until then we are without opiates or natural pain killers which leaves us vulmnerable to pain. and relapse.

hang tough, this is about getting your life back, try everything else before you you decide you cant go on and take a pill.

Hi  there.

Nine Days for me. keep going -i am following you.
I have either a cold or runny nose/sneezing w/d symptoms- who can tell?

For my back pain/discomfort I have been taking aspirin. You can try that or advil which is good for pain. Avil bottles will recommend two pills, however I remember that prescription Motrin (same as advil- it's ibuprofrene) is equivalent to four advil. So you can take that amount as long as you do not do it for an extended period.

My back is my problem also. I get up and move around often.

This Friday night will be a test for me. We will be heading up to our vacation home in the Poconos. About 2 1/2 hour drive. I have during the past five years always taking vicodin to help with long drives.
Usually 1 1/2 or 2 pills- I am anxious.

Good Luck today
