just a thought, but my back has been bothering me, and i have no history of back problems...my doctor checked me for a kidney infection?
Thermal care heating pads.....the one's that when you open them its a chemical reaction that makes heat. They do work for eight hours.

Heating pad helps me too.. or get those heat sticky things from the pharmacy.
Hey Lisa,
Ive had a few flare ups over the last 7 weeks or so Ive been off the painkillers. Before and after work I use a heating pad over a back board (like a heating pad but firm). I also have a shiatsu massager that I use. I take extra strength tylenol or aleve. I have the lidacaine patches but cant really tell if they are working or not. I just do everything I did before I used the opiates nad although it doesnt take away the pain completely, it does help. I can still work and when Im busy it helps keep my mind off of the pain.
Dont go back now, babe. You have worked so hard to get to where you are. Exercise, ask for physical therapy, just bring out all the big guns and dont go back to the pills.
hugs

no you have to get a script from a doctor.........its called Lidoderm/Lidocaine 5% patch
Beach, I will try anything other then pills at this point. I tend to sit hunched over, so that doesn't help. Can I buy that at a local store? Thanks.for the advice..

justlikeyou...I am going to keep trying to move around as it does help a little. No way and I caving in, believe me. I have come to far and never want to go back......
Thanks a bunch...
Lisa
I didn't think about a heating pad, I will try that and see what happens. I figured it would make me stiff.....we'll see. THanks...
Lisa
We are alot alike in our reasonings for pills. I too, have a hour and a half drive, up and hour and a half back, planned for Friday night and usually would get pills for the ride...but I am not going to cave in this time.........I am gonna keep going. I am proud of myself and feeling good...Thanks Ken...

can you get up and do a little streching for 3 minuets per hour? try a different seat type? the big inflateable balls are good.
i believe it takes a couple months for our bodies to begin pruducing natural pain killers and until then we are without opiates or natural pain killers which leaves us vulmnerable to pain. and relapse.
hang tough, this is about getting your life back, try everything else before you you decide you cant go on and take a pill.
I tore a disc in my lower back in July so that I would not miss work I used Lidocane 5% patch on my lower back it didn't take the pain away all day but really helped....ever tried it?
Can ya bring a heating pad to work .that really helped me while going thru detox I as well had really bad back pain muscle relaxershelped a lot to (if they do not make ya sleepy).Things will get better.Have a great day.

Hi there.
Nine Days for me. keep going -i am following you.
I have either a cold or runny nose/sneezing w/d symptoms- who can tell?
For my back pain/discomfort I have been taking aspirin. You can try that or advil which is good for pain. Avil bottles will recommend two pills, however I remember that prescription Motrin (same as advil- it's ibuprofrene) is equivalent to four advil. So you can take that amount as long as you do not do it for an extended period.
My back is my problem also. I get up and move around often.
This Friday night will be a test for me. We will be heading up to our vacation home in the Poconos. About 2 1/2 hour drive. I have during the past five years always taking vicodin to help with long drives.
Usually 1 1/2 or 2 pills- I am anxious.
Good Luck today
