Back from Surgery....CT 36 hrs

Hey there everyone!  I had surgery on 9/27/10.  If you recall, I quit CT prior to that with the much needed help from this group.  Well the surgery didn't go as planned.  I still have a large stricture in my common bile duct.  They put a very large metal stint in it that will stay there for at least 6 mos to a year.  The pain was the most intense to date of all the 9 surgeries.  So of course I was on a PCA pump pumping me with Dilaudid.  After day two I asked for the pump to be removed.  The WD came within hours.  Sweats, chills, flu, aches, etc.  This time I knew what they were so it made it easier for me.  The pain was intense still so I was sent home with Norcos 10/325 to take 4 to 6 a day.  Well of course I took them all.  Right now I've been CT for about 39 hours.  It is far less than the previous WD's.  But none the less its WD's!!!  I keep telling myself I can do this and I don't need the pills.  I see the doctor tommorrow and I will not be taking home a script for this poision!!!  I could kick myself in the butt for doing this again.  I felt so good being pain pill free.  I world was bright and ALIVE!!  Today I'm pumping myself with vitamins, fluids, and trying to stop going to the bathroom.  Arrrrggggg this *****!!  I know I can do it.  I know that tommorrow it will be much better.  I just keep counting the hours.  I guess its back to keeping busy and getting the house super clean.  Then a much needed walk with the 4 year old.  Thank you all for your support and just letting me vent.  This site is a GOD sent.

Sounds like you have this part down with the wd's.  Just hang in there as you know it will get better.  Stay busy and stay positive!!!  Hope you are feeling better from the surgery....sara

Don't be so hard on yourself, you are doing awesome.  Unfortunately, in your case, the only way to treat the pain is with pain medication.  You have recognized early on before things get too out of hand and have put a stop to it.  I commend you - I hope you feel better soon....my prayers are with you.
