Back problems ended up addicted to shots

by hbdolphin, Jul 09, 2009 05:19PM
Hi. I was put on dialuadid pills, 8 mg, up to six times a day. I was only taking about four times a day, and the pain really went away, a first as I have several spine issues a few of which are buldging disc, degenerative disc disease, fissure in L5, pinched nerved and slipped disc.  I'm not even forty. I used to just do yoga, was fine for years. but once the docs numbed me up on BP meds, I only found I felt better after taking a pill or better yet, taking a shot. Pretty soon, I was giving myself shots at home.  I only recently realized what I had done, and the trouble I was in, and have spent the last three days w/d'ing, I had to do this in 2001 off Vicodin and thought I might die. But now I'm so tired, can only sleep and sweat. I'm taking myself down slowly, but if I pulled the shots, so fast as I did, I realized I can't. I think only one right now a day, and soon, none, just taking it down slowly. Probably had been up to 15-20 a day with up to four at a time in a shot.  I told my husband, crying hystericaly, I was so dirty and embarrassed, he understood, and is helping but it's really bad timing. I want to get off all my meds soon, and will check into a place but can't right now with our daughter coming from France for the next six weeks. just hoping I can still get through the w/d of dialaudid w/o destroying our time together.  Venting, thank you if you know anything, you can tell me, I know what I did was really wrong. Just try being dead mentally, a frontal lobe labotomy which I call lithium. for ten years all i've4 done is watched tv, a coma.  I'm going back to the person I was b4 who worked made money was happy and yes, a little different than everyone. Anyway./ thanks and God Bless

the dilaudid  reminds me of the last time when they tried to use it on me, while I was in the hospital. because I was maxed out on methadone and norcos, I was unaware that I had appendicitis.  I thought ........I will fight it off. 2 days latter, one morning I wound up in the ER  DYING !!!!  my appendix was  bursting.

well because I was on those drugs, the meager(to me) amount of dilaudid they were shooting me up with did not even phase me. the nurse finally shot me up with morphine after 3 shots of the D, and it helped some what. the nurse, said" I cant believe your still breathing!! well the Er doc did an xray and it did not show anything,he claimed !!!!! he could not understand why I was in so much pain??

Luckily one of my best friends is a DR and a radiologist (the one that finally convinced me to go to the ER !!) he called in and convinced them to do a catscan.  all while I was dying in agony.  then a brilliant surgeon came in and knew what was going on.   "your going in right now !!!"   I said thank god !!! "knock me out paaaaaaaaleeeeeeze !!!"

woke up in a hospital bed feeling a million times better !!  the surgeon knew what was going on.  " you gotta quit eating those vikes like candy, your going to kill yourself if you dont stop"

it was a huge wake up call for me.......
