Bad night

I am on night 4 of amphetimine withdrawal. I am so restless and irritated tonight...it is unnerving.  I feel so depressed and isolated. I am reading friend's posts on facebook. They are all out having a good time and living normal lives while I sit here feeling crazy and sick. Is anyone else feeling like life will never be normal again? Any tips for dealing with these crazy thoughts?

Congrats on night 4!!!  I know nothing about amphetamine wd, but I am approaching day 4 of suboxone wd as we speak and it is starting to become not so pleasant.  Tonight was a really hard night for me as well....  we just need to hang in there.  Look at all the posts that keep saying that things will get better.

Congrats on day 4!! That is awesome. You should be really proud of yourself !

But one thing you need to know is that getting clean is one thing, staying clean you'll need to line up some aftercare right away. NA meetings are great and you will get the support you need to not just abstain from drugs but to actually recover. All addicts have a reason (or many) why they felt the need to self medicate to begin with. You didn't get addicted overnight and it will take time to heal your mind, body and soul. Working a good recovery prorgram can help you do that. You also might want to check into also working with a therapist one on one to help you as well.

Have a look through the health pages on this site and check out the Thomas Recipe, that can help take some of the bite out of the wds. And also look at the Amino Acid Protocol, that helps get the brain healing faster and make sure your getting some excercise. Although its probably the last thing you want to do, even a brisk walk can help get those natural endorphins flowing and help make you feel better faster.

This is an excellent site for support so keep posting and way to go on Day 4!!

Hi there Vmoore213,

Are you withdrawing from Meth or prescription amphetamines like adderal or Ritalin? I know most Dr's treat amphetamine withdrawal with benzos like valium, clonopin, xanax and the such.  They only treat them with it for a short period of time. Do you have any of these to just take for a couple of days till your irritation and restlessness get better and so you can sleep. You probably havent slept much if you get some sleep you will feel so much better. Have you seen a Dr and told him about this? Some are very understanding.

I know exactly what you're going through, after only a year of this stuff I can't even believe what I've become. Good luck, I pray you find the strength to stay clean. I've recently relapsed but I'm not gonna give up and neither should you.

again, from someone that's in the same boat, good luck, stay strong
