Thxs everyone for the help. I still have not been to the dentist, but I am going to have to break down and go soon. I can't even enjoy my food because it hurts so bad when I eat. Hey maybe this way I can lose some weight since I am trying to lose 50 pds. I have been taking motrin 800mg when the pain gets bad. To Mellie4- there is a dental school really close by, I will most def look into it, I forgot all about that my fiance goes there for his teeth cleanings and he loves it.
Oh and as for my dentist I have been seeing him for 3 yrs now and I really like him, but I am upset that they wont make a payment plan. I really do not want to change dentist because he is very good. I bet if I spoke to him instead of his offie staff he would work something out with me, I just can never speak to him. I have the $200 but you guys know how it is to not want to spend money on things like that. But heck if I bought pills here and there I can go take care of my dental work, which is very important.
Mellie4 - the dental school is a GREAT idea!! Definitely worth looking into tjj! :)
Well, Anbesol actually goes on the gum. I'd ask another dentist about that. I've used it in the past with teeth that needed root canals and it didn't take everything away but it did help. I know an old remedy is to put a clove on the gum area where the pain is. Not sure if it would help but it wouldn't hurt. I would definitely use some ibuprofen and also an ice pack. Ice packs can really help quiet things down. Tooth and gum pain can really be all-consuming. If this is your regular dentist, I think you need to talk to them again. If you've been a patient there, I can't imagine that they'd let you suffer like that. And if you have an infection and need an antibiotic, it can be dangerous in certain instances. I think if it were me and the dentist wouldn't make a payment arrangement I would start looking for another dentist. And I would just pay the money (if I could get it in any way at all.) I can't imagine letting the kind of pain linger for days or weeks. I'd cut something out of my budget, whether it was skipping takeout, a dinner out or something. (You might also want to see if there's a dental school in your area. They often do procedures (under the supervision of a dentist) for free or a much reduced rate.
Opps I posted before I finished.
I hope you find a way to take care of this and good job wanting to quit. Good luck and I will be praying for you.
Overeasy-
starting day 18
Seriously, get to the dentist. Take the money you used to spend on getting extra pills and use it to get yourself comfortable. It will then be easier and less of an reason to use again.
You need to come up with the 200 and see the dentist. I understand what you're saying but if the dentist is telling you there aren't any other alternatives, then you have no choice.
Go - you'll feel better - and they can give you extra strength motrin (800 mg) and they will help with the pain. Good luck to you!
