I meant RECOVERING ADDICTS LOL
Yes I think in times of difficulties esp. we need to be with other addicts. Our day to day coping mechanisms return but when we are hit with major life issues, we can easily return to our old ways.
I just had to be on pain meds for 3 weeks and had no trouble at first when I stopped...then in a week or so all of this mental thinking...addict thinking started to happen. I got help through posting here and telling my family...although they don't really understand well. So sorry about your children and your shoulder. It is great that you are getting back on track. If you ever need xtra support feel free to send a PM my way. Lots of luck. Corey
Indian Tonic water helps a lot for RLS, drink as much as you can.
Your liver could use regular doses of St Mary's thistle & n-acetyl cysteine & l-glutamine & curcurmin will help rehabilitate your gut.
DLPA might help to restore your energy levels & build natural endorphins.
Hope you feel better soon,
Michelle
Your telling me!!!!!!! its torture,, yeah i had 12 years clean and sober,, and loved every day of it,, not to say that i didnt struggle,,but it was my quality of life just absolutley amazing!!!! i think because i stoppped going to NA,,or maybe that should be rephrased..i KNOW because i stopped going to NA i relapsed,,,that and in the space of 3 weeks 2 of my 3 children were diagnosed with Autism and ADD and that really floored my,, so the medication i was taking for a shoulder injury became my coping tool,
Apparently you can buy it OTC in India and we get a lot on here. If you are losing fluid from alot of bathroom trips from the gastritis you are losing Potassium as well. Were you clean for 12 years?? It's gotta be hard when you can go to the store and get your DOC.
Thank you,,now i know!!!! and i can imagine it would work quite well i have a stack of relaxation cdsand after tensing and relaxing the mucles it does help a bit,,as most addicts, im a secret user so handing my pills over is not an option im tring my best and doin quite well i think, i spent 6 months in rehab 12 years ago so i know the work thats ahead of me the physical pain and discomfort i would take a thousand times over,,,its the emotional pain im finding the hardest,,,,ive been using this drug for over a year now and its really takin its toll on me i just want it over with,,after being clean for so long i feel like a failure again and even more so because its OTC medication(in Ireland you can buy codiene OTC)
Hi...
Couple of things. Yes, the RLS is caused by a lack of potassium in the body so bananas and potassium supplements will help to minimize the discomfort. Hot baths help as well.
Believe me, you will feel discomfort no matter what, but some things can help. and please know that it is only for a few days and then you are on your way with the physical withdrawal.
Get two bars of soap...I like Ivory because of the size. Put them in between the sheets and the calves of your legs. Lay on your back and make sure that the soap is pressing on your calves. Try not to roll over if you can. The soap has to make contact with the back of your lower legs.
I could give you a taper plan but won't because from what you are saying that you are doing, I doubt that you can stick to it. That is not rude, it is the truth. I know few people who have successfully tapered. You would need to hand the pills to some one and have them dose you and you would need to stop "spiking" your dose, which is so hard to do.
Some people take the band aid off fast, some take it off slow. Either way, you will have withdrawal and there is no way around that. Set your mind that you want this and get it done.
Please stick around and listen to everything these folks have to tell you. They are good people.
Good luck.
still not sure bout the soap thing????? just got the list for the animo acid diet so im going to give that a shot,, not doin any thing to cause sweating but im just getting over a nasty case of gastricitis(due to the codiene) so my appitite ***** right now!!! not really interested in taking these tablets for the next year!!! so tapering back one a week is not really viable for me.. i want to get off them but the c/t was too much for me ive got 3 young children so being sick really isnt an option!!!!
Heard about the soap but don't know if it works. Do you mean under the mattress? I would put more faith in the potassium. Get some from the vitamin store and take them at a higher dose for the twitching to see if it works. Are you going in saunas or doing anything to cause you to sweat?
I was never able to taper but many posts say to drop 1 pill a week if you want to do it with the least ill effects. Good luck to you ...and May the wind always be at your back:o))
