Benzo Withdrawal Help Needed

My mother is a victim of benzo addiction through prescriptions for 20 years.  The local hospital has cruelly detoxed her in one week and she is in bad shape.  I am concerned that she might die.  I do not trust the local hospital - they are no help with this withdrawal crisis.  I need to find a doctor or treatment center who can truly help her through experience with this problem - she is in so much pain.

As someone who was addicted to benzos for 6 years, I cannot imagine coming off in 1 week!  My doctor developed a taper plan where the dosage was decreased like .25 milligrams every 2 weeks, and it took a few months to come off them.  I would contact her doctor or a new doctor and get her an appointment asap - I would think any doc worth anything would know how dangerous it is to come off of these things too quickly.  Years ago before I realized the danger, I quit taking them and got so sick I thought I would die - that is when I realized I was addicted.  Take care and if I can help, just send me a message.

Please keep checking back as someone will come along and help or to advice.You and your mom are in my thoughts and prayers. I can not Imagen how a Dr. could do this to somebody hang in there

20yrs in one week you gotta be kidding me? brutal google up the Ashton Manual its great and has a taper plan there

Benzo w/d is very dangerous and your mother must taper under a doctor's supervision. I am not trying to scare you but Benzo withdrawal can result in seizures and in the worst case, death. Im not trying to scare you but your mom should check in somewhere. Especially after 20 years

sudden benzo WD can be fatal. I don't know how any responsible hospital could design a plan to WD someone off a 20 year habit in 1 week. she should be in a medically supervised detox. please find another dr. to help her with this.

I don't know anything about benzo withdrawl,but theres alot of people here that do.I'm bumping you back up to the top.
