yeah Diazepam is extensively used by experienced docs to replace all other benzo s one may b addicted 2.I was a huge benzo nut, prefering halcion, clonazepam and flunitrazepam.Instead of a doc having to prescribe all these different benzos,an equivalent valium dose is prefered.
The Diazepam umbrella is a tried and true technique to counter benzo addiction.
Valiums long half life allows the body to maintain a steady flow of the drug.10,5and 2mg tabs allow 4 small, acurate .5mg drops

i think i was probably confusing.
I meant tapering down using a different benzo.. so intead of tapering the Xanax Xr, switching to Valium and then tapering the Valium down.
I'm just asking because Xanax has the shortest half life and my husband can't take the withdrawal after only a few hours off of the Xanax XR..
with my Lorazepam..his mood is more stable and he can go almost 2 days without taking another dose.. only 1 mg at that..
I wouldn't WD from a benzo with another benzo... they can use Librium or other meds for that.. sometimes phenobarb.
