Best day yet

by verygreatful, Nov 14, 2007 07:19AM
HI I haven't posted much.  I have been reading your sites.   I think I am finally over the hump.
Today is the first day I feel pretty good.  It has been a tough time.  I have been withdrawing from 50 opiates a day along with xanax, and soma, and along with that 82mg of methadone.  The first week I c/t the opiates. I don't remember to much.  Then I went through a taper of 10mg a day through my doctor until the end went to 5, then 2.5 and then half of that and then half of that.  I had a great support system with all of you, along with the wonderful man in my life and my son.  Today it has been 3 days of nothing and I feel like I am me again.  It's awsome.
Thanks for everything.

Hey, I have been on vicodin (opiate) 3-5 a day and soma (350mg) 3-4 daily for 7 years. So you think I can C/T off BOTH of these at the same time? I REALLY want to do this for EVERYONE'S sake. I can see they are taking over my life. I am not working right now so being home won't be a problem. Do you think I can do BOTH at the same time without seizures or anything. I did C/T off the vicodin for over a month just a few weeks ago but something happened and as others I used that as an excuse to go back on the vicodin. Just wondered if you C/T off the opiate and soma at the same time. My Dr. tells me soma  is harder to get off of than the vicodin??? He is scaring me but then HE'S the one had me on this stuff for 7 years. I think I'd be better without it. OK thanks for any input you can give me. Precious

Hi
I did c/t the pills, it was pretty bad at first but with the support of my man and kids I was determined. I lost a whole week of my life, don't remember that week. That actually made it easier. Once my brain came back and I could think it got harder. My mind started to function but my body felt like ****. Now understand I was still taking the methadone which I am finally off of.  So I don;t know if that made it easier or not. All I can say is good luck, think about your loved ones and how it will feel so good to feel again, good or bad. Hang in there, trust me there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I wouldn't do both at once........start with the opiates and worry about the soma later unless you feel the soma is making you feel worse.  I thought it was helping me but realized it was making me worse...I am through the opiate withdrawal 15 days, and it seems like the soma is making feel very lethargic and thats not good.  I am going without it for a few days and see what happens.  Getting off of soma is a breeze compared to the opiates.  Some may disagree.  But, when you go through withdrawal from the opiated you may find yourself taking more soma then you should .....thats what i did and that can be a problem.  so just becareful, be good to yourself, and  good luck.
