Blessings

Hello beautiful MH members!

I haven't been around in awhile but I want you to know, you are always in my thoughts and prayers.  I wanted to share the biggest thing I've been learning in my recovery thus far...I used to let my emotions run my life.  I gave in to every feeling, and let it take over.  When I got sober over three months ago, I began an intensive search into my behaviours, but more importantly into my thought processes.  WOW.  I am still in awe of how powerful the mind is.  I have to tell you, the key for me has been to connect my mind with my body and spirit.  When the negative chatter comes up and I feel like I can't push forward, I take a deep breath and I say "Suck it up Princess" (with love of course)  It is a difficult to find the balance between honouring feelings and letting them run your life.  I am definitely a work in progress (as are we all)  I was sick and tired of being my own worst enemy, and made a conscious choice to be my own best friend every day.  Also, getting out of my head means connecting with other human beings-and realizing we are all in this together.  It's friday night, and I know that's a tough one for many of us.  So if you are struggling tonight, reach out and connect with someone.  If you are alone, go buy some coffee and donuts and give out to homeless people, go see a movie and laugh and cry, go eat a delicious meal with a great book, go for a walk!  Just get out of your head and enjoy the blessings of being alive.

Love to all...
Lu
