Blood Alcohol Levels

by BleuBelle, Sep 07, 2007 09:26AM
My Husband has Alcohol Liver Cirrhosis. He has a history of Orthostatic Hypotension.
He recently had to have two admissions to the hospital. The second was for falling. He is
soo big and the falling was so frequent I had to have him admitted for the second time.
I have been telling his doctors for years about his blood pressure dropping to 70/40 when
he stands. Until this last visit when a resident in triage listened to me and put him on a
heart monitor. In triage they ran a blood alcohol test that came back .014 - using an alcohol
swab. They then did a second in room after admission with Betadine swab. It was negative.
The doctor in charge during this admission accused him of drinking and basically went off
on him for an hour. *They did put in a PaceMaker during the second admit. Was this doctor
out of line for chewing my husband out? Is .014 because of the alcohol swab? Thank You
