Can i die from this taper

HI you may have read some of my posts on april 23 08 my dr started tapering me of 1 mg xanax 3 times a day by adding 0.5 mg klonopin 4 times a day.............im now down to 0.5 mg of xanax,,,,,,,,and on may 28 he had me strart to taper off the klonopin drop 1 pill every 10 days i made it down to 2 pills and thast when i started falliong aprt.im going to go back to 3 pills of the klonopin for awhile.I talked to my dr and his answe was to try the fast action xanax that dissolves under the tounge.................i dont want to go back on xanax,.........but since tapering off these meds it seem s my anxiety is so bad im afraid im losing my mind and im wondering if i coud die from going off them even though its tapering im so scared i can think of nothing else and my dr will give me nothing to try except the fast acting xanax.................would my klonopin stop working for my anxiety or am i just freakin...........please anyone with advice...........my blood pressure and heart rate r going up

If your Dr. put you on the taper, he is not going to taper you to the point of death. I know it feels like it, but I am thinking not under a Dr's advice.

I know someone who recently tapered much much faster than that with her doctor helping...her doctor used a much milder benzo as well in the taper...chloraxepate...klonopin is very stron even tho it does not "hit" u like xanax does...tapering is uncomfortable for most....be safe and u sound like u have a great doctor

Hang in there.  I tapered off of klonopin and xanax about two years ago when I started taking Lexapro 10mg for anxiety.  Is your doctor putting you on a SSRI or another drug to try and beat the anxiety?  What my doctor did is start me on Lexapro at 5mg per day for a week, then 10mg a week.  I started feeling better on week 1 and by week six I was totally awesome.  So, then we tapered off the Klonopin (just like you are) and kept the xanax at no more than 10 pills a month for breakthrough anxiety or for nights where I was really anxious about meetings the next day.  You WILL have anxiety coming off the Klonopin...use the Xanax as you do this...it will really help.  I hope my story helps you...I haven't had any xanax for about three months now because the lexapro handles most of my normal anxiety (not my withdrawals from hydro, however...)
