Do you have someone who could dispense meds to you daily?
Do help you taper?
240mgs is a pretty high dose and considering at 60 years of age blood pressure Issues are a concern.
Are these doctor prescribed?
You are being proactive which is very smart knowing your background.
Good for you.
I agree with Sweet..I was on Loritab for 8 years only taking 3-6 a day.I went to methadone thinking it would get me off the tabs and take care of my pain..What a mistake.I wish I would have came straight off tabs.the withdrawls from the methadone is hell.I am coming up on 2 months and still feel it some.If u can taper(most cant)it is a much easier process. It u cant then ct is the only option for us addicts.U will be sick.U will hate it.But,u will get over the wds a lot quicker and get the poison out of your system.Methadone was the hardest thing I ever, ever came off of and I dont wish it on anyone..Be careful with what u decide.Keep posting for support..
As someone who detoxed from methadone, and someone who had to go thru the withdrawals, I have to advise against it. I went from a Vicodin/Percocet habit, (6-8 5mg tabs a day) which wasn't even too terrible compared to a lot I've read about. But Ohhh man, I felt so painless and carefree on the methadone...for a little while anyway...but then I quickly became physically dependent on the drug. It's not hard to do. And I stayed on it for 8+ years. The withdrawal from methadone is ten times worse. I wish I had known that early on...I would've just detoxed from the Vic's and Percs. If you have the willpower to do so, I would advise a taper. Although some ppl just can't do tapering, and cold turkey is their better option. Whatever you choose to do, I suggest doing a ton of research on it first. Knowledge is power!! Good luck and prayers :)
Oxycodone will detox pretty fast, methadone is much longer acting. First, I have a few questions. Do you have someone to help you remain accountable, meaning a person to keep you from abusing methadone? I am a methadone addict, so that is a concern for me. Short term, I have seen methadone work, though my closest friend used it for oxymorphone and Oxycotin, but I don't think it would be much different. I believe you need a solid plan and aftercare for bupe or methadone to help.'what kind of support do you have locally?
