Cannabis withdrawal symptoms

My dad was taking cannabis for 5 years, he stopped taking it about 3months ago because he wants to be totally clean from drugs and since then hes been totally ill, he keeps having panic attacks and cant sleep and all sorts of stuff has been happening to him! he even went to the hospital at one point because he thought he was having a heart attack. Is this just a normal thing that happens when just completely stopping taking cannabis? thanks xxxx

I agree with Hope...I too think it is all mental. There is no such thing as physical withdrawal from cannabis. Dad may have smoked it to cover his anxiety or some other underlying problem, which is now surfacing. He needs to deal with the original condition that had him smoke to begin with.

well i am no doctor, but i believe all or most of that addiction is mental. i was a pothead FOREVER, smoking a lot, and that is what actually made me paranoid. for some reason i always thought it was helping me, but it was causing the anxiety...and it was bad too. had to know who was going to be anywhere i was, on a strict schedule, etc..
my friend that has smoked for a long time, he has anxiety issues, stopped smoking for a couple of months and then smoked, and had such a bad panic attack that he had to go to the er from it. so i think if he gets his fill on good vitamins/supplements that help, eat healthy and take lots of deep breaths he may be okay. or maybe he has a serious anxiety problem, but like myself just thought the pot was helping....

sorry if this doesn't help much
