Definitely talk with your doc.  Naltrexone is what they often use in rapid detox which immediately throws you into major withdrawals and it is brutal!  I know because I did the rapid detox and would never, ever recommend it.  I was also on Naltrexone for 7 or 8 days after the detox and that was a horrid drug for me.

After a detox, a decent one, you can use Naltrexone to keep you from going back on opiates.

Good luck,

Lizzy

I'd think you'd want to consider your Bupe dosage as well. If you're taking over .5mg a day or so of Bupe, then you want to ween down before the transition. I took Revia (Naltrexone) for a few months after my rehab stint. It will most definitely throw you into withdrawal if you haven't eliminated the opiates from your receptors. Ask your doctor how long to wait before taking the Nalorex...and, take his suggestion. Naltrexone induced withdrawals are MUCH more intense that ordinary withdrawals because every receptor is immediately cleared..not the gradual clearing of traditional withdrawals. It's not a pretty sight.

I would think changing would be a very positive move cos the Nalorex does not contain a narcotic/and sub does..so that is a positive move
Naltrexone blocks narcotics and is what we use in the hospital to snap someone out of an overdose...I also think it throws u into wds tho..not sure..so would imagine there is a waiting period after the sub to start it..ask ur dr..in a way it is like Antabuse for alcoholics..it will definitely discourage u from using them! cos u feel awful if u use
Peeps take naltrexone for other reasons to..it is sposed to be good for the mood thing..dunno...have looked at it a while back and read up on it....keep us posted

Do you have a sub doctor?  these would be things u need to talk with the prescribing doctor about
Subutex does not contain naltrexone..suboxone does..they both contain the narcotic/partial agoist bupenorphine...I would imagine there would be a waiting operiod cos Nalorex is gonna block all the narcotics and would probably throw u into wds if bupe is still on the recptor sites...havent seen someone take this transition but gwetting off the sub is a good idea...sub can become another DOC if peeps are not careful...do u have a doctor to guide u through this?   keep me updated if u do not mind?  I like learning bout stuff like that
