Clonidine - ??

OK, I just got my grubby litle mitts on some clonidine... what do I do with it again?

I don't know how much to take, or what it is treating differently - with the w/d's - than the klonopin?  (I have both..)

My friend also gave me something called Dicyclomine and said I might be able to use that as well.. anyone know what it is?

Most importantly tho - just wondering how much Clonidine to take..

i cant remember the strength of my clonidine (maybe all the same, not sure) i was instructed to take one tablet 3 times a day once withdrawals started and used it for 10 days...i dont know if that is the normal doseing, but thats what i did...and i had no xanax, klonipin (klonopin) or anything of that sort...but if i did i would have taken that at least every 12 hours, but that was for me (i am a big girl) so the dose may be different for you...but i will tell you i wouldnt have made it if i didnt have the clonidine...IT HELPS MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE I HAVE EVER TRIED...  let us know how you do with it...love and peace

i wonder what my dosage should be... they come in .1mg, and i understand it's 3x a day also. i remember someone saying depending on your size depends on how much you should take..

i'm 5'6" and 140... does anyone know if i should take the full .1mg or should i only take 1/2 of that at a time?

Ok....here's the schedule. Take one pill 3 times a day......8:00 a.m./2:00 p.m. and then 8:00 p.m. It is a godsend.......take it for 10 days IF you need it  but don't just stop b/c it can make your blood pressure spike.....taper your dose over 3 days.....3/2/1/0....you might feel a little tired but it beats jonesing.
You can absolutely take it with Klonopin/valium or xanax but only take one of those 3 (they are all benzoids) so don't mix them....but one of them with the clonodine is fine. Re: your size is fine for the full dose......you're going to do great. I promise......Day 1 was the only bad day I had and it wasn't that bad....really, truly.......Get it in your system a good 24 hours before you detox is another recommendation.......just a thought.

Clonidine is nothing to play around with. It does significantly lower blood pressure and it makes you dizzy and lethargic. It does help with the heebie jeebies and anxiety but you have to watch the blood pressure. I would start out with a half of .1mg and see how that goes. Do you have a blood pressure cuff you can use to see how you are doing?

Let us know how you are doing. I am doing a taper. I started at 100mg a day and I am now down to 65mg a day and I will lower another 5mg on Thursday!

Be careful with clonodine, first of all you all have the dosing wrong. Its .01mg which my friends is much less than a full mg. Which is never prescribed. The highest is .05 mg. half of a full mg. Be careful I'm telling you can really mess your self up, as well as the others that are reading this forum. This medication is used Q12h, not TID. Unless you enjoy fainting every time you stand up! No seriously, Call a pharmacy and ask? This med is best used w/librium for detox.  God Bless, Noah

You will be fine taking 0.1 mgs at your weight.. If you feel dizzy check your BP and cut back..

Clonidine lowers blood pressure by decreasing the levels of certain chemicals in your blood. This allows your blood vessels (veins and arteries) to relax (widen) and your heart to beat more slowly and easily.

Clonidine is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure).

Please be very careful with this meds........you don't want to drop your blood pressure to low......

i found my clonidine prescription...it says on prescription bottle/instructions: clonidine hcl 0.1 mg tablet....take 1 tablet by mouth three times a day...substituted for catapress....take medication exactly as prescribed, do not suddenly stop without doctors approval and instructions (which are to taper off  for 3-4 days),,,may cause dizziness or drowsiness, alcohol may intensify this effect...i hope this helps or eases your mind....good luck hun!!!!   and keep us posted with your success!!

I currently have been prescribed CLONIDINE HCL (Sub for CATAPRESS) and it clearly says 0.1 MG ......am I being dosed high or am I missing something?

I only take it once a day (Bedtime).

Just wanna make sure  I am reading this right.....

Dude you Dr. is right the way he wrote the rx. Ethier way is acceptable. And 0.1mg at bedtime is a good starting dose. I was prescribed .2mg  3X a day.  I went a little overboard and was taking up to 1.3 mg in a 24 hour period.  Yes, I felt like I could drain through the floor if I stood up too fast, and was weak as a baby, but it also took away the anxiety.  I looked it up beforehand and found out that you can take up to 1.4 mg per day for opiate withdrawal, so I did some research.  Once when I was withdrawing from junk they gave me one of those patches at the hospital and it did nothing, but they were retarded.  These people on here recommending .05mg dosages 3X a day are retarded too.  I'd say .6mg/per day is a good starting point for any serious withdrawal.  That's what the nurse practitioner who had experience with drug abusers prescribed me.  Cheers
