Cocaine allergies?

I know cocaine is bad for you, it's a dangerous harmful drug, yes.
I have done it on several occasions, the first few proving to cause no more lasting side effects than a bit of a sniffle for a couple of days.
But then, one weekend a friend of mine and I did $500 worth between the two of us, and for the next week my nasal passages were almost swollen shut, impossible to breathe through, leaking constantly. Since this binge, each time I use the drug I go through the same ordeal.
I am wondering, is this an allergy, or just a particularly intense side reaction to the drug?

Thanks for the help.

u should us that as a reason to stop. I was on crack for a while but stopped when it made me feel like i was dyin after the smallest amounts. 1 hit would make me think i was havin a heart attack. i was dumb then tho and would just keep smokin. it started gettin worst so finally i just stopped. now i think it was probably panic attacks tho. Anyway cocaine in any form is the crappiest drug out there.

Hey grit!  I used to be able to snort speed and coke w/ no problems.  I really didn't do it that much either.  But something in me changed.. The exact symptoms your talking about.  My face looked almost deformed, my sinuses were so swollen. A clear liquid dripped out of my nose constantly for about 2 weeks.   It didn't matter if I hadn't done it for months and months, if I did one little tiny line, the next two weeks were pure hell.  A little later that year, T I got hooked on crack and couldn't breathe when I started coming down.  I started wheezing, i thought I was going to die.  I crawled to the payphone in my apartments and called 911.  That was the last time I ever did cocaine ... Dec 2004.  When I was hooked on crack my mom had my kids, I was a total mess.  I like to think that God made me allergic to cocaine.  I call it my God-given allergy.

Apparently I did read it and it seems to be a forum for offering support to "information and support with others who are trying to stop using drugs" and my contributions in this  forum would actually be aimed at the desideratum of quitting the drugs. Here specifically I feel that the (very well intentioned) caution that he should not do cocaine at all written in that particular manner is not entirely helpful in getting someone to quit drugs, but that's just my opinion.

i wasn't offended and certainly didn't mean to offend anyone else.

look,

it's fine to say don't do coke.  didn't I suggest the same?

but a coke user doesn't want to ask why his nose is bothering him and get "you know you shouldn't do it at all" as a response.  also, the suggestion that our friend here was close to an overdose, while motivated obviously by concern and golden intentions, was not exactly accurate and would serve to damage credibility...see it sounds like he did about 3.5-4 grams over the weekend which is heavy, of course.

cheers to everyone, sorry if I didn't phrase myself as nicely as one should TMTC (and sorry for putting you on the spot)

take care

apparently you didn't read the top of the page here.   this is a forum for those who want to stop doing drugs.  i do NOT think that tomanytocount's remark was out of place.   in the past, we have had ppl who come here with the intent to get information about drugs, where to get them, how to do them, etc.   sorry if you were offended but getting off drugs is what the goal is here.

I appreciate your comments.
It's a frustrating situation--I did two lines, just to enjoy my Halloween more, whatever, and now I'm sitting here with a cotton ball shoved up my nostril to absorb the snot pouring out of it.
Before this last time of using, I asked my ex not to tempt me into sin anymore. We're friends with this couple, and he can't smoke pot because he's on probation, so she never does it in front of him or around him out of consideration. My ex does not show me this same consideration, however, and I must admit that I am of weak disposition and am easily swayed.
I love the drug, man.
But I hate what it does to my body.

Guys it is aggravating when somebody wants an answer and somebody comes along and says, "why don't you just stop using the drug?"

He knows you're not supposed to do cocaine.

Please, try to offer the information somebody needs, saying the same thing over and over again makes users feel patronized and hopeless about getting information...and that can cause them to just decide to forget it all and use to their heart's content.  Remember, information never hurts.

I also experienced this a long time ago-for two days after I was leaking copious amounts of phlegm and towards the end of it it became dryer and red with traces of blood.   Inside of my nose was bright red as well.  Nose felt very clear, like I had a cold, and it hurt to take a deep breath through it..

It was the only occasion I ever used, so II suppose my nose may be more sensitive to it, or perhaps there is an occasional adulterant which really does a number on the nose

At any rate, if you use cocaine your nose will eventually get a hole eaten through it, and it will be a tremendous problem and devastatingly painful.  Keep your nose moist when you do it if you must. Look up which sprays are good for it-some I hear would make it worse, I'm not sure which kind you should use. Moisten your nose after you are done with all the lines.  It will help only very minimally! Remember, people who use coke eventually get their noses ruined and it is just awful, I wouldn't wish it on anybody.  It is SO nasty.

Good luck, and never be averse to thinking that maybe it's time you get past that part of your life...well you know what cocaine is so I needn't say it :)

All the best.

So, when do you plan to quit, or are you scouting for a plan?  There are some really great people around here with a lot of good knowledge they are willing to share.

Honestly, for the most part, I'm a pretty strict pothead. In loose terms.
But I can totally agree on the subject of pills. I'm a pill fiend. When it comes to snorting, it's usually pills on my part. The cocaine bit is more my afore-mentioned friend's forte, but as she's not only my closest friend, but my ex (4 year relationship, lots of love) and pretty much anything to get on her level is okay with me.
I love the coke but I hate the after-effects in a way i couldn't even begin to describe.

You said something that I've said for years -- Never met a pill I didn't like.....

Don't know about you, but when I'm in a relatively self reflective mood and think about that it scares the bejesus out of me.

it means that your nasal passages aren't tolerating it any more and get very swollen and leaky when you do it.  Eventually, this will lead to bleeding which will require medical intervention at some point.  I knew a guy in college who had this problem  and he ended up with big holes in his septum because the drug just ate thru the tissue.  he used to brag that he could hang a christmas bulb in his nose he'd done so much cocaine.  Me, never met a pill i didn't like but have always had a fear of street drugs.  weird

Does it really matter whether it was an allergic reaction or a side effect?  I'd say it was dang close to an overdose.

Have you ever considered stopping use of this product all together?
