Codiene withdrawls

Well I'm on day 5 of my WD from codiene and reading these pots has really helped me through the dark first days.
I'm on day 5 and feel nauseous and weak. Can't sleep and night time is the absolute pits. I've been working this whole week and feeling like crap. I'm praying its start to get better from here.
The thought of taking another pill turns my stomach so I don't have cravings to return to my pill taking. I was taking up to 15 Nurofeon Plus tablets a day.
Can anyone she's some light on how much longer this will last for?
The tingling feeling all through my body at night is the worst, I can't get comfortable and feel totally agitated. 4am this morning I had a bath LOL- then slept for 2 hours straight. That's the longest sleep I've had in 5 days.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Take a Xanax if the sleep gets that overwhelming. Just don't ever take a Xanax again if you take it at night you'll crash hard!! Sleep is essential to the w/d process I don't think one pill that's not an opiate will hurt. When I was on my second week like day 8 or so I took a Xanax for 2 nights to get some sleep and it helped me push through week 2 to get to week 3. Then natural sleep came back slowly but surely.

Thank you for the replies- I was in a bad car accident back in 1993. I was giving Panadeine Forte for the pain and managed to successfully use it for many years ( properly) then a few years ago I started using the Nurofren Plus inbetween and had moved up to endone on script. I tore both rotar cuffs ( shoulder muscles) in the accident and winters were always the worst. I started taking tablet EVERY night for about a year until I started taking them during the day. It's been about 3 years now that I've had them daily ( all day) and I was so used to chemist shopping It was just life. BUT I was so sick of waking each day feeling soo bad nearly
I've having a hangover and it was getting worse that only a pill would fix, I knew I had to stop.
I am a single mum yo 2 teenage boys and work for myself as a hairdresser. Work this week has been a shocker and yesterday day 5 was prob the BEST day I've had so far. I can now have 2 days off and hopefully feel much better by next Tuesday when I return to work.

I just wish I could bloody sleep!!!!! This is the absolute worst and the irratible feeling I get when I lay down. Is this all normal?
Well it's day 6 today and I've had about 4 hours broken sleep and I'm awake yet again and it's only 5:51am :( I feel tired but my body just won't let me sleep.
No body knows I'm doing this and just think I have a virus- I am ashamed to tell anyone and I am truly hoping I can just continue and hopefully the worst is behind me- but who knows :(

I had bad diahrea on day 3 not before, so I bought some  Imodium which helped A LOT. I'm taking nothing else.
My symptoms didn't start until day 2 and I clearly had restless legs BAD!! OMG that is horrible. Then day 3 was my worst and so far day 5 was my best but I'm still not comfortable.

Hope this helps and I hope someone can shed some light on whether I'm doing things right etc -oh I went cold turkey!!!!

Hi honey,

Five days is awesome!  You're on your way to feeling better for good.   Codeine is an opiate, although not as strong as others, it still can take a few weeks for our bodies to feel better.

I took oxycodone for 8 years.  For the first 5 days clean I couldn't even leave the house, and sleep was impossible.   I personally turned a corner on day 16.

Just hang in there and make sure you are drinking a TON of water.   Your urine should be almost colorless and no odor (gross, sorry.)   I know it can be frustrating to feel like crap day after day, but we don't get addicted in a few days, and we aren't going to feel normal in short order either.

Keep doing what you are doing....I'll be next week at this time, you feel MUCH better!

Hugs,
-Robin

Hello
Congrats Sunshine9801 iv not managed to do this is 15 years! I also take dihydrocodeine which obviously makes things harder. What started your using? How many did you take if u don't mind saying? I take a lot. (18-25 a day) when do the withdrawals kick in? Iv withdrawn before and became almost suicidal so always managed to find some pills. Please share your experiences - I don't find many on here talking about codeine so this would be useful to know :)

Hi. Good job on 5 days. Although that's a great start, physically and mentally it will take more time. Can't give you an exact time, but ya gotta give it some weeks. All your symptoms are totally normal. They lighten up inch by inch. Don't expect miracles immediately but each day, each minute you are clean you are getting better. And you don't wanna go thru this again, right?

Keep it up and keep posting!
