Cold Turkey or Suboxone Taper Day 1

Cold Turkey or Suboxone Taper Day 1

I have been on suboxone treatment for 13 months and was doing really good for 6 months until i relapsed and since then ive been on and off. Apparently when i stay on sub for long i still get that slight opiate feeling and end up getting back on oxy. I want to try and do this cold turkey and Im coming off a month binge. I usually take 150 mg at once but never more than once a day. I havent touched anything for almost 24 hours and Im waiting for the storm to hit me. Ive never gave myself enough time goin cold turkey as I always have suboxone (and still down right now as Im trying to do this cold turkey). Is this a smart idea because it seems like subs are not working for me. The only other option is doing a sub taper in a 2 week period but im afraid I wont come off them. What should i expect from cold turkey and how long? Ive said it so many times but I really want to be done with this for good. I have a loving family and it makes me want to cry when i think of the pain ive caused them.

Hi,
Don't go the sub route again, it hasn't worked in the past, it probably won't work again.  I'd go cold turkey, get off the whole merry-go-round for good.  You're in for about a week of withdrawals, only about 3 being real bad I'd say.  Prepare for it, get rid of the sub, and get some aftercare.  You can do this, do this for yourself and for your family.  Good luck :)

HI im a little confused .....your on oxy now.....when was your last dose of sub and how much of it where you taking......the oxy might be keeping the sub withdrawals off you....sub can be a real mofo to come off of in the higher doses  and the withdrawals can last quite a wile
we really need better info to try to help you here ......post back and will see what we can come up with for you good luck and God bless....Gnarly

Day 2 - Took 1 milligram of suboxone at 8 am last night because I couldn't sleep so I'm kind of feeling like I caved but I do feel a lot better right now. Im coming off a 2 month binge at 150 mg/day so I knew the first 3 days would be the toughest. Im thinkin about taking a low dose of sub (1mg max) for the next 2 days in 24 hour intervals. After those 3 days Im hoping the withdrawal from the sub wont be too bad since its a low dose. If i have to I can wein myself off 1 mg and go down to .5 and then .25 but im unsure of how ill feel 3 days from now. Im gonna go to my first NA meeting tonight. I have this feeling that I never want to touch a pill again and Ive been here before but I feel like my relapse has a lot to do with me forgetting how I feel now. So I feel NA will be a constant reminder of my struggle.  Will post back later.

Day 3 - Over the last 3 days I have taken a total of 1 mg a day in 24 hour increments. I am still feeling withdrawals a decent amount but the suboxone is definatley helping. I hope to take just .5 milligrams today as I am determined to be off everything. I hope that I have gone through most of the bad parts of withdrawal with a little help from suboxone. Does anyone have any recommendations. I have only slept 6 hours in the last 3 days. Does anyone think I will still feel withdrawal from taking the suboxone at such a low dose from the start?
