Cold turkey or Suboxone?

Well i'm trying to get off of pain meds. I most recently have been taking lortab 100mg day. I only weigh 100#. I was taking ultram over 15 day haven't had those in weeks. I'm all out of Rx's.I took 15mg lortab today. Its not my first rodeo.I'm a big wimp and CT is soo hard. That is why I saw the suboxone MD in the summer. Iwas taking too much ultram/hydro but I didn't like sub. It almost felt like a graduation of sorts. The drug is incredibly strong it's 1/2 life is like 4 days?.? I have a four yr old to take care of and can't even consider expanding our family while on these meds.I am a nurse> i function well as an icu nurse. I feel like i'm still very functional but in the same vein i know i need to quit. Do I just suck it up and do this? Again I have only suboxone and clonidine and valium all RX'ed. I only abuse pain meds. Thanks in advance fro anyone who took the time to read this. I have been here before....

I wrote this to someone else that was put on suboxone w/out choice from oc's but might help you too. I to am on methadone and have been 2 1/2 yrs why do you want off??? Any questions let me know...Hope helps Holliee

Hello if I were you I would call a lawyer asap and sue there *** off for medication withdraw pain and suffering etc... Thats total bs oh people make me so mad. Sorry about all that just makes me mad. To be honest suboxone is pretty high price each pill at a pharmacy is about 5-8 dollars each so they not saving much at all sounds to me like they are saying your an addict and putting you on treatment plan to get you off oc etc.  Like I said I've tried Suboxone and it's awful here's what it did to me. When I first started made me feel awful so I thought well it;s new I'll try it out but never changed at all. I tried it for 6 months and stayed same whole 6 months. I would get up and take an 8mg about 15 mins later my head would start to hurt and feel sick to my stomach so I'd have to lay down for about 30 mins then help some. SO I would get back up and still have little head ache, never helped with NONE my pain at all. Then after about an hour I would start to feel real nervous now I;m usually not a nervous person in general. Then at noon take another 8mg same thing head ache lay down and get up feel same now during all this I still had all my pain so having deal with that the only thing it did was not make me withdraw from oxycotion. Well around 6pm take last 8mg one for day and guess what same thing head ache lay down etc.. Well by time it was bed time I was NEVER sleepy at all not whole 6 mos so I tried go bed and couldn;t sleep that to never before had trouble with. So finally pain go so bad I couldn;t take it no more and said this is crazy and I'm DONE. Well here kicker you have to wait 24 hrs before you can take an opiate from your last dose because it will send you into awful withdraws I told my self if I make it through this never again will I take one these things even if I have nothing an I am with drawing. wel I spent a whole day in w/draws from it plus pain and no sleep finally got back on oc and NEVER TOUCHED ONE THOSE awful things. What they are really used for is to get people off herion, oc, opiates that done have pain but have an addiction to them. So honey you need to do something FAST.....

Glad to see you made it back!

Since you went ct before, you know what it is all about and I suggest to anyone if you can, that is the way to go. If you decide to go on Suboxone please be sure to do the research.

Many members go on Sub thinking "It will get me through the withdrawal" and although it will that is not it's purpose. Suboxone is a program which has to be adhered to by a doctor and should be accompanied by counseling and any other form of aftercare you can get. It is intended to help you get through that first phase while you work toward recovery. If you just take it because the withdrawal is hard, guess what? You will be right back where you started, and you will need to go through the withdrawal all over again for that.

I would love to see you suck it up and go through ct. It will be a week and you will have been through the physical withdrawal. With that said, I do always suggest aftercare. We all know how to get clean, we just don't know how to STAY clean. Since you have been here before what is to stop you from going back to using again once you get this round out of your system.
