Comfort meds for detoxing off methadone?

A very helpful person told me I should look into finding a doctor that would prescribe me comfort meds to take my first month or so after getting off methadone. Such as gabapentin, clonidine, and trazadone for sleep. Is this a good idea? Would this help the process be more comfortable? Just trying to come up with my personal recovery plan for dealing with WD. Thanks!

F  the clinic!!!      Most doctors worth their salt would be happy to help somebody trying to get off pain meds...   it's the exact opposite of what they see every day, seekers etc.    I mean don't go in there asking for five weeks worth, just tell them your primary fear is being able to sleep for the first few days.   Don't go back to the 'clinic' --  deep down you know they don't have your best interest!

You are completely right! I agree. I pay $100 cash a week it's like they want you stuck there forever.

I was prescribed valium for the first few nights.  The physical part might not be as bad as you think.  I personally wouldn't start taking a bunch of meds.  Valerian Root and Kava helped out too (and I wasn't a big "natural" guy)

Ok thank you so much! Did you ask your clinic doctor for the Valium or your primary care doctor? My clinic doctor keeps trying to get me to transition from methadone to suboxone but I don't want to be dependent on a different medication.
