Coming off morphinre--need advice

by budrow57, Sep 25, 2009 05:45PM
I have taken morphine for 60 days, 60 mg a day, before that hydrocodone 8 a day.  I have decided that life isn't for me, in the past few days I  am down to 1/2  of a 30 mg morphine and a lortab in evening.  I feel like hell and I can't take time off until after the 1st.  Should I take some valium.  Will I need it.  I feel like I do but I am afraid as my plans are to take 2 ltabs a day until I can figure out what to do.  My dr is no help.  Please let me know your experience or thoughts . Thanks

Budrow,

Tell me about the Morphine you are taking? are they pills or capsules, if they are pills and you are already cutting them in half and down to 30 milligrams of morphine per day, maybe you can cut the halves in half and go down to 15 mg of morphin per day for a week and then only take 1 15 mg every other day for a week and then maybe stop the morphin. I myself am weening of time release morphine and I drop down my 10 mg at a time but I am not sure if you have enough supply to week for a month at a time or if you would even need that long since yours is not time release.

As for the lortab I have no experience with those. But careful with the valium, i know that I have a very addictive personality and they are very addictive. If you wean off you may not need to take time off work. good luck and keep me updated, jules

I know this might not be what you want to hear right now, but if your doctor's being of no help to you then I suggest you seek out another doctor and speak with them about what's going on. If you could give us a little more information like the other poster mentioned, that would be great too!
