Coming off of Morphine

So Ive been reading a lot of posts on here for inspiration the past few hours and decided to post my situation. Im 24 and have been taking morphine and dilaudid for the past year. I orginally got percocet after a surgery and loved the feeling they gave and havent stopped since. I moved from percocet to morphine and dilaudid as they are easier for me to obtain. So I decided to quit cold turkey because i dont want these pills to control my life anymore. I am currently on day 3. So far the body withdrawals i have been able to somewhat deal with, its the mental aspect that is really trying me. Yesterday was the worst. For most of the the day, I sat on my couch just thinking about horrible things even to the point of where suicide could be the easy way out. I will never actually do that but the thoughts that were going through my head where terrifying. I guess im looking for a support group to help me through this and from the other posts this seems like the place for it.  I cant go to a professional cause i cant afford it and i dont want my family to find out about this. I have also been smoking weed for the past 5 years or so and decided to quit that too. I really want to take back my life.

I just came off morphine at a high dose using for 8 months or so.
Really the wds were hardly there but I know my body and what to do with a Chondline patch and a little Valium and keeping hydration it was fine really the thing that got me was how long it took to bounce back for a whole month I was stll having flu like symptoms, sneezing and feeling like hell. Not a little past a month and a half and getting back to my normal.
Its true what Eagle says something about morphine does not make you want to drink water.
Peace

It seems like you may be through the worst of it. If you can't go to a rehap, that's ok you could go to NA or AA meetings and or church or something similar and they are free and work great as long as you are through detox or WD's and are serious. Congrats on quitting weed also. Some people here don't agree but it's just another addictive drug. all the best

I agree with the eagle......smoke a fatty my friend. One thing at a time. If you smoke cigarettes, most detox centres wont let you quit. Just too much at one time. Beat the main problem first, and you can deal with the other REALLY easy.
Good Luck

How much and how often do you do the morph and D's? I found morphine to be a pretty brutal withdrawal. But it was a short one also. And I was doing a pretty reasonable amount. Be sure to maintain hydration. That one almost got me with morphine more so than any other drug. You lose a lot of fluid in a lot of ways and generally dont replace enough of it. Also look at the amino acid protocol listed in the Health Discussions or via medhelp search engine. Read the Thomas Recipe also - even though most it wont apply directly yo you on day 4 or so.........but learn as much as you can about the foe - -  If you arent taking an antidepressant I would endorse the amino 5-HTP or SAMe - - - they are totally natural and help the brain produce the feel good things it needs. We deplete quite a bit when using. Try and distract yourself if the head trip gets rough - - a good movie - maybe a book - clean out a closet - just stay busy through it. I dont think that I would have picked today to stop smoking after five years either - - time for that in a month or two - - do one thing at a time and do it successfully........and good luck. Keep posting any questions and for support -
