I thought that morphine sulphate is an MS Contin and is very addictive. No?
Morphine, unless used intravenously, is not a popular drug of abuse//when swallowed...it does not as a rule produce the energy or boost associated with other drugs like oxy or hydro
How much were u taking each day?
Morphine when swallowed//altho sounds like a serious drug..is not near as addicting as lortab or oxy...it is addicting but the oral route for abuse of this drug is not common///same with dilaudid
The IR will be easier to taper with as when u break the er u get IR///LOL..I know it is not funny but breaking an extended relaese tab is like taking an instant release tab//ie ER...IR
Taking small doses spread out thru the day is the best way to taper//asking ur dr is a good plan but not everyone has a prescribing dr///for morphine i would think u would
There is a great article on tapering in the health pages//plus lots of great info//the thomas recipe helped me a lot plus an exercise program
hang tight
keep posting
Hi & Welcome,
You may want to speak with your prescribing physician about a taper plan to get you down a bit before jumping.
There is no way to avoid the withdrawal, only some suggestions on how to ease the process. Be prepared for 5 to 7 days of flu like symptoms.
Stay hydrated, eat, light exercise if you can. Hot baths are your friend. Take imodium for the bathroom issues and vitamin and mineral supplements if you are inclined. You can ask about this and others can steer you in the right direction.
If you can take some time off, if you work, be prepared to do that. Detoxing at work will not be fun.
Stick around and ask questions here if you need to.
