Confused??

Confused??

Yes that what I really feel like at this moment.  I've been on/off pain meds going on 4 years now.  The only reason being off is because of job changes and the insurance waiting periods.  Right now its been about 9 months of being on hydro 10/500.  My wife the same dose, but different pain.  Mine has always been neck pain, but in the last 6 months been dealing with a pain in my tailbone/hips that is RELENTLESS.  It's nothing to go thru 225 tabs in 2 weeks....makes me sick cuz that is like a 2 month supply or whatever.  Not sure if I am becoming tolerent or addicted.  DR ordered a MRI, but have to wait until I can afford the deductible.  Meanwhile the pills that keep me afloat keep disappearing....its like after 3 hours the pain is back (no pun intended).  THx

I hate to break this to you - but you have a problem with the hydrocodone....The amount and length of relief you get will continue to dwindle as you increase your dose....the user never wins this battle.... you are becoming both tolerant and addicted. Get with your health care professional and get him/her in the loop.....not enough other good answers for dealing with the pain .... but there are some alternatives around. You are currently engaged in a no win situation. Please do it while your liver, heart, and kidneys still function......eagle

dear confused,
I agree with eagle above, i would just like to give you a little advise, dont let anyone talk you into methadone to come off pills! I wish you the best of luck, if you cant afford the copay , why not try some agency to help you out, this is your health and it is important, good luck

Agree...225 pills in 2 weeks is a problem...if it takes that much of any drug to relieve ur pain then it is not the drug u need to stay on....the tolerence just gets worse and in a while u will need 425 pills in 2 weeks..it is never ending and is why narcotics are not a good answer for long term pain...they were originally intended for acute/short term use...i would imaging u r uncomfortable when u dont have them and withdrawals make people hurt due to muscle tightnes ...there is a point when no doctor will prescribe tha amount u will need...pain is so hard especially chronic pain...it doesnt sound like u r thinking about quitting right now...but u may want to think seriously about it..keep posting

Thanks to all.  I go to the Dr. tomorrow and I will discuss this with him.  My only worry is that he gives me Nothing which will really be a let down.  This pain has to be dealt with.
