Cost of detox and rehab?

I'm researching places in Oregon to recovery from drug and alcohol abuse. They seem to be running around $25,000.  But I found one that only costs $5,500. That would be great because my insurance doesn't cover this.  I will pay out of pocket.  Does anyone know if it's possible to have a 30 day treatment only cost $5,500?  Will it be scary/ghetto? Can anyone tell me how much their rehab cost.  And does anyone have suggestions for places in Oregon?

Portland has a few, I herd of a place where they take only a few people and its a walk in basices type thing and they put you to sleep for three days while hooked of to fluids and 24 hour care while you get through the had part of detox. I read up on that a lot but didn't want to be away from my kids plus be asleep for 3 days. Good luck and keep in touch, this sight has been wonderful for support.

Thanks everyone, for your recommendations.  Some of those places really good but I'm definitely not traveling far this time.  It was too hard on my family.  I see serenity lanes has a Portland place that does intensive outpatient.  I'm going to talk to them about prices.

addiction knows no socio-economic barriers, it doesnt discriminate,
it affects all races, creeds and nationalities.
that being said, just because a rehab costs $25,000  as opposed to $5,000
or faith based christian rehabs that cost nothing doesnt guarantee your sobreity once you leave. many times addicts have no insurance and have no money because of where their addiction has taken them.

I went to Valley Hope Residential Inpatient Trmt.....the cost for trmt varies and there are MANY options.  If you self-pay the costs are lower' many variations on cost; those that have insurance, those that don't but have some cash to at least get them admitted; if you want to set up a payment plan, on and on.
It was one of the BEST experiences of my life.  The costs AVERAGES about $5,000 I think.  They have a "fly to recovery program" too on their web site.  I looked up Oregon and found one w/i 250 miles by just typing in Portland, I think. (since I didn't know where you are in the state)
I went to the Valley Hope in Cushing, Ok.....the setting is in a big, wonderful home for the the basic counseling sessions, groups, pool table, library, tv room, but you sleep in rooms that offshoot on the same property....both for singles and married housing.  You have a key to your own room.  They have wonderful food, a little chapel on site and it is set in a valley area w/red bud trees blooming in the Spring where I sat outside and did my "homework" and assignments from my couselor many times.  A true place of beauty and safety for me. I made many friends, loved the staff and learned to live w/o drugs or alcohol in a "safe" environment.  I even stayed a bit longer than the 30 days.  I was almost scared to go back home when I finally left....I had become so secure in being there.
The high dollar trmt ctrs can be expensive because of the "by the sea" settings, the extras they offer, fancy perks, etc.  Close to my time to leave, one of the staff asked me to come to the front admissions area where a new woman had arrived that day w/her parents....they'd taken their daughter to NUMEROUS other trmt ctrs and asked me why I thought Valley Hope was different from other trmt facilities.  I said to describe it with just one.... LOVE..  Because I felt love from the minute I walked in the door, didn't have to wear hospital or institutional clothes, no lock down, or institutionalized feeling.  It truly was a valley in my life......but one of LOVE that changed me forever.
They take insurance, work w/those that have very little money, and don't have that "one size fits all" mentality.  After my hubby and I spent our 30 days there and shared our experiences, about 7 or 8 of my family members have since gone to a Valley Hope.
Many times there is a place where former "clients" have posted their experiences for you to read.  If you do some info gathering, talk to others, you will be shown where to go......it will change your life....promise~
And the cost usually reflects the "location, perks, and business style" of the trmt center's ownership.  Glad you want to go.....bless you~

The first time I went to a state facility & it wasn't scary. It was wonderful. Anywhere you go there will be addicts just like you wanting to get help. I looked into other ones after I relapsed & there are good ones that will do a sliding scale according to your income. I didn't get to go to that one because I had been clean too long by the time I could go so they said it really wasn't needed but my friend is there & she loves it. There are lots of options your just probably going to have to call a ton of places to find out what options fit your needs the best.

Scary Ghetto? You really need to learn to choose your words more carefully. You are in a community that is a mix of all people from around the world. You do not know what someone's background is so be a little more PC in the future. We are all addicts here helping one another to get and stay clean. That's the bottom line.

Good luck in your treatment plan.

I went to a free detox and it was in a hospital. It was wonderful. They fed you three meals a day. The food was great. I had a tv in my room and there was a day room with internet access. We had helpful meetings. A shower in your room. They kept me comfortable the entire time. I couldnt have asked for more in free detox. I wish I woulda went back a second time when I relapsed instead of going to a local suboxone methadone clinic yuck. I of course dont have that kinda money to go to a rehab. But there are some good places out there. You just have to do your research I guess. If i woulda went back this time though I would have got counseling when I left. I Didnt the first time which is prob a big part of my relapse.

Holy Crap,  that is expensive.  I think it's terrible that you have to pay so much.  Check into it somehow before you go.  I know you have been struggling for a long time and my heart really goes out to you.  I hope someone can give you more info.

The inpatient I went to was 10,000 for the 28 days, mostly covered by my insurance, and it is considered a really good rehab. I believe luxury ones are closer to 25, cause that is what I read it was to go to Eric Clapton's treatment center in the Virgin Islands, and it looks pretty swanky :) Which one are you looking into?
