Could excersise make a difference in a taper?

Today I was off work & it was a nice sunny day, but regardless I just kept thinking negative stuff, as those of you who know me I,ve been tapering off methadone for what feels like years, well actually it,s almost close to 1 year, but at any rate, I was feeling slight depression & a bit of anxiety, which is not like me at all, as Im a very happy girl, but lately I,ve been in this funk, so I decided I was gonna go to this great park, by myself & go for a hike, & I did, for one hour I hiked up steep hills & enjoyed nature, low & behold I forgot all about feeling blue & my taper & just enjoyed myself, afterwards my legs ached a bit, but I felt so good, as a matter of fact I still feel great! So Im wondering does excersise make a difference? Or is it just all in my head? Regarless I dont care as I feel so much better, & Im thinking maybe I should do this every other day? Thanks Penelope

Exercise is wonderful.I wouldnt get all consumed with the meth, why not go -off 1mg a week 4-3-2-1 that wont leave you with no WDS. Clean in 4 short weeks. Not bad considering the rest of your life. cheers

I know withdrawing from hydros exercise made a huge difference! I have went through it a few times and the times I exercised I felt so much better. My energy came back quicker, it helped my restless legs, helped to clear my mind, and made me sleep better. I just felt better all around. That is one of the main recommendations I make when people ask for advice. There is a term called "runner's high". It is like a state of euphoria.  Your body releases endorphins when you exercise. That will make you feel better. So yes, exercise really does help with withdrawals. Search "runner's high" on the net and read about.
Best of luck to you!

You & I must share more then a methadone taper in common, as I to happen to be going thru pms, & it can kinda mimic some of the methadone taper effects, such as depression & irritability etc, ugh. I wrote you back & told you that Im gonna finally be on 4mgs on monday! Yipi! & You know what? I may cheat a bit, maybe if I feel ok I could titrate myself down & just be done with it, cause I know my clinic, they love my insurance payments, & Im wondering if they will say on monday that they are only gonna drop me to 3? & leave me hanging on 1mg for two weeks! I get a two week supply so I believe its possible? & Yes I will keep up the hiking, although Im originally from the bay area, California, I live in Oregon, so I have lots of places that I can hike, bikeride etc. Thanks Again! You really are a inspiration!!

Yes...exercise makes a huge difference!  It speeds up the entire process...so keep it up!  We went hiking on Sunday...it was cold and I did not feel like going...but as you know...I felt great afterwards.
What mg are you at now?  Do you know the date of your last dose?  We will dose at 21mg tomorrow - March 6 is the last dose @ 7 - we go ct from there.  We will definately help each other out as much as possible!  I have been a little blue lately, maybe it is pms!  lol

actually it makes a big defferance exercise releases endorphins which helps with depression and helps with anxiety. If you are going to exercises it should be easrlier in the day though so it does not mess with your sleeping cause it can if done to late. forgive the spelling

Yes, definitely makes a difference. When you exercise hard your brain releases chemicals that it other wise would not. Because of the drugs, your brain has little or no ability to release them on it's own. By exercising, you are forcing the issue. I could not do without it. Be strong and keep it up Penelope
