Could this be withdrawals??

Could this be withdrawals??

I quit a 10 year, 10 a day hydrocodone addiction of April 3rd.
I'll soon have 3 months.

My biggest problem in the 1st 5-6 weeks was restless leg and arms and not sleeping at night.
I finally found some 2mg valium that helped me get to sleep.

I've been taking the valium every night til about last week,

I haven't been able to sleep since.....
awake with the arms and legs again.

WTF?????

Could that be withdrawals from that small amount of valium or is it still withdrawals 3 months later from the vicodin?
I am going nuts having to go thru this AGAIN.

Congrats on quitting..I know the lack of sleep etc.. suckss . And yes! you could be having some w/ds from valium..2 mg..although not outrageous, is still alot. and it also could be that you just suffer from rls or are having residual problems from being off vicodin. Eat some bananas or get some potassium supps..that might help..

i have never been addicted tovalium so i dont know what the w/d symptoms are..someone will be along soon that can answer that.  i dont think at 3 months you should still be having those symptoms from the hydros.  just hang in there help is on the way.

YES it is the valuim you might want to taper off of it .... you have to go slow with benzos ...I know you have not been taking tons but your body has now gotten used to having it and you just cut it off .

Step off the valium slowly and take an OTC for RLS/RAS or try some Cal/Mag500 right before bed.  It helps alot.

Remember, anytime you take something that you can build a tolerance to, you need to dial down off of it to prevent the nasties.

Thanks for the response guys.

avis, I've already done without them for 3-4 nights (and I don't have any more  :) ) so I can't really taper.

todd: I'm pretty sure it was just 2mg. I think that is a low dose. Which is why withdrawals would surprise me.

I'm thinking every doctor should have to go thru withdrawal once before they get their license. This is just something you have to live for. It cannot really be described to someone who has not experienced it.

shesh.

hi.
what you are having is valium withdrawal. valium is a sedative which controls your sleep patterns by acting on the brain. whenever anyone wishes to stop with drugs that act on the brain function(so also drugs that contain steroids), you must never abruptly stop using it. gradual tapering the dose is the best way of treatment. these sedatives in itself can be addicting and hence their abrupt stopping causes the withdrawal u are facing. if you took 2 mg vallium to start with and wen u wan2 stop taking it, reduce the dose to 1.75 for 3-4 days then 1.5 then 1.25.. and so on for every 3-4 days. you need to give body enough time to adjust itself without this drug. from ur symptoms i can say that this definitely not hydrocodone withdrawal..
Congratulations on quitting ...

I must be wrong . I thought 1 (5mg) valium was also a fairly low dose.

Well then you are having withdrawls and it could last at least another week .I am hoping because you  were on a low dose it wont last as long .benzo withdrawl (withdrawal) is worse then hydro WD and it sure lasts longer
