Could use some support?!!

I am on day 4 of cold turkey from norco 10. I was taking about 10 a day. Last night was terrible. No sleep. Anyone got any suggestions??  I've been hanging here for the last 4 days and I think it's been helping.

Hi there - hang in there you should be through the worst and start feeling better tomorrow, if you haven't gotten up and around as much as that s u c k s do it, get your blood pumping and each day try to take a little walk.  Exercise hurts but it is helpful at this stage, even if a short walk to the end of the street and back - nothing vigorous just movement.

Keep hydrated, eating and every day now you'll feel a little better.  Are you sleeping at all?  That kept most of us drug out for a while, once you get  a good night of sleep you will feel A LOT better.  I used benedryl or nyquil to help me through the first week and with much work on my end (meditation, self hynosis, natural sleep aids) sleep returned.

Hang on and keep posting!  I'm almost 90 days and I cannot tell you how much better I feel off everything.   Life has meaning again.

Hi and welcome to the forum! I'm glad you made the decision to quit and that you began posting.

Have you checked out the Thomas recipe located in the Health Pages of this site? There are supplements you can take to at least take the edge off. First is Immodium for tummy troubles. Gatorade, Vitamin Water or Powerade to replenish nutrients. Bananas for potassium which helps with the restless legs. Some members have used Highlands Restless Legs with success. Hot baths in Epsom salts will help too. Believe it or not, so will walking, even if just around the block. A good multivitamin and B Complex. Foods that are light on the tummy such as soup with crackers, broth, toast, rice, and fruit.

Herbal teas are soothing too. Sleepytime tea with lemon, honey, and a peppermint stick are relaxing in the evening. TheraFlu daytime and nighttime with honey added helped me with the aches and pains, just don't mix up a lot of OTC medicines because they could interact with each other. Valerian root is also great for relaxation.

Post here as often as you need for support. There are a lot of caring, compassionate people who will help you in any way we can :)

Thank you sooo much!!  I have been walking or rather been dragged by my dog out of the house at least 2x daily. I am trying to go the natural route with some herbs and vitamins. Feel better today but the no sleep is tough. I know eventually it's gonna happen and I'm trying to just wait for the sleep to happen.

No sleep slayed me - it was the worst part for me quite honestly - it took quite some time for my sleep to return but I also had insomia issues and coming off sleep meds also so I did have to learn how to get to sleep naturally.

Fur kids are great for keeping you moving so that is a good thing.  Just keep moving ahead no matter what!

It will come so just hang tight!

Hi and welcome :))  What worked for me as far as the sleep goes was drinking a cup of chamomile tea and 2 Advil PM.  I also took a very mild muscle relaxer to help with my RLS.  I was taking the same pills..Norco 10/325, 80-100 mgs a day so I know what ur going through.  You're on Day 4 and it will definitely start getting better from here on out.  Keep posting and don't forget...We're all here to help :)  Dave

Just spoke to my doctor and told him I won't be needing any more pain meds. I can honestly say my neck/back feel no worse than when I was taking the norco. The withdrawal is no fun but I can see now how those evil pills were doing NOTHING for me.

The pain is worse at the beginning of detox. It should begin to moderate later. You should be no more than a day or two from a big upswing in most of the worst detox symptoms.

Sleep problems may linger. If you are like most, you should begin to catch at least some decent sleep soon. Try not to be upset about it. If you can just relax with some fans going in a dark room, do it. If you are too anxious get up and watch a movie or show you enjoy. I remember making very good friends with Netfilx for about three weeks! Accepting that you are going to experience these symptoms makes all of them less acute, I think.

I got in trouble with no excuse. I do have gout and bad arthritis, and I am a professional keyboard player, but I was never prescribed pain meds. I really sympathize with those who are under a doc's care and get physically addicted. It is a fight you can definitely win, so don't give up at this point...the worst is over.

If you have mental issues post detox, and they are common...and you fear relapse, get to an N/A meeting. As long as you are not using you can talk freely. Anyone is welcome, but they say if you have used that day to just listen and talk to a leader in private. Just don't ignore anything that makes you want to relapse after you get clean and physically feel better. I really did not listen to folks about that and after all the work to get clean, I relapsed a year ago. It isn't worth the feeling of failure, wasting money, hurting people, letting them and yourself down. That is mostly me talking to me...just be prepared for your brain to bug you initially. Don't listen!

Peace and prayers,
Randy
