Counseling/Sub ANGRY!!!!!!!

I dont even know where to begin! Im ANGRY!    I found a DR. & Im on week 4 of the Sub- Its going well..  I'm told after 3 wks of it, that my Ins. co. wont cover the scripts unless I do counseling,   OK, No problem, Right?    WELL---- My dr. is involved w/ this clinic here & I make the appt. go in, get the initial intake done, WHICH BTW  was awful--- (read my old post for the 411 on THAT ! ugh)    And they called me fri. with their idea of my treatment-   2 group & 1 one on one PER WEEK!!!   3 Sessions!!   AT $20  a pop for co-pay !   So I very maturly & in a VERY diplomatic way explain to them that I have 4 children & we own our own Business & my husband works HONESTLY 60-70 hrs a week !  SERIOUSLY- He works ALL THE TIME!     And that I cannot do this,   So "Eric" my counselor i guess, Says he'd talk to his supervisor,   So Yesterday (Monday) I get a call saying NOPE, You HAVE TO DO 3 days a week at $20 per session!    So I called my DR. left a msg. there & no return call yet. I left a msg. with his office asking if I can just go to someone else, maybe a private practice, someone with a chemical dependancy speciality, Whatever-- Something to just NOT do 3 days a week.    
   So I pay $80 per dr visit for the SUB DR.  My copay monthly for my script is $50 & now $60 a wk. for counseling AND Gas (it's 20 miles away)  and My Sitters are $7.00 an hr. !!!!!!!!!!     So Im trying to see if I can just pay out of pocket  for the script  ( $360.00 )    because either way I pay about that in counseling ....     WHAT THE HECK DO I DO??????????
   Im SO MAD!   This is a place where MOST ppl. in their counseling are COURT ORDERED,   Does it mean NOTHING to them that I have kids, That i WANTED to do this?    Im being treated like Im HEAVILY into EVERY drug imaginable!   The intake was nuts!    Asking me if I ever smoked weed- I saud yes,   like 12 yrs ago- & only 2 or 3 times in my LIFE  And he says SO how long did u abuse marajuana.....WTF???? ABUSE IT?  3 times in 36 yrs is abuse?    I have all these calls to make today & 2 of my kids are toddlers- for those of u with kids, you know phone calls with a toddler are a challenge!     Im more stressed from this than when I used pills!!!!

I hate to say it...but no they probably dont care...u need the meetings and support....it is probably still cheaper than buying the pills without ur insurance...sub is expensive and somedoctors charge 2300 for a sub visit each month and will not take insurance....perhaps try and get off the sub in a few weeks and this will not be a major expense

I also am on sub. I go to couseling once every 2 weeks.
It is mandated by the program which is federal that a suboxine patient must
attend drug counseling.
I think that you need to talk to the dr. explain your $ situation. It isn't suppose to be more stressful for you but that is what is happening.I know you said you called but you probably will get farther if you talk to him in person.
I am pretty close to you in PA,
we have a sub dr here that mandates his sub patients go to 12 step meetings. Well someone challanged him on that b/c that is his belief (12 steps). Now he has to accept that his patients can go to any drug counslor not just 12 steps.
My ins pays also. I have two $15.00 co pays for Dr ov & counseling visit. And my co pay for my scrpit is $25.00. So mines a little lower then yours. I pay about $85.00 a month for everything
Some of these sub drs are in it for the $$ and some even dicatate what pharmacy to go to. Being in the medical field I know that isn't right, patients need to challenge these drs more on what they are doing. They have to follow the program. Unfortunally there are really bad sub drs out there. Gives a bad name to the ones who are doing it right.
I hope that you can work it out that you can go to afforable couseling. The frustration sometimes is so bad you almost relapse.

Wow, I really feel for you ~ that is nuts they are doing that to you~!~ I too have 4 kids and my husband works ALL THE TIME too!! Eventhough he does work so much we are struggling financially very much right now and I could NOT afford those co-pays either!! That is completly wrong for them to do that to you. Is there another doctor you could go to. Maybe if you have enough sub, you could taper off of it and be done??? I really feel bad for you and I just wanted to offer you some support~ I hope things get better for you ~

as long as you are taking something. some one will own you. dealer , dr who ever. there's only one way to take back your life.there is no easy way out

Have you called your insurance co. yourself?  see what other alternatives there are?  Maybe if you do one a week or one a month they'll pay 1/2 the cost?  I agree that its going to be just as much for you to pay out of pocket for the sub w/o insurance as it is to do all this garbage.  Don't get me wrong, I think some counseling will benefit you, but not THREE times a week????  when I did tx I went once a week, and then did AA meetings too.  See if that will work for the insurance co.  I'll admit 50 for a months worth is a good deal (I pay 190 bucks with my insurance!) but, I see the doctor once a month, and pay 40 copay for him.  It does sound like they are running a scam.  See if there are any other doctors that accept your insurance and go to them?  At least you know what questions to ask with the next one?

Im Calling around to see if any other DR's who do the Sub will take on a new pt. that is already on it.  Im SO STRESSED!!!    OMG!!!!

Maybe you could find a sub doctor that is on ur insurance as well...if ur insurance specifies doctors to go to..mine does..my friend at work went to see a doctor on our insurance but he wont take insurance period...but she did not keep looking...he charged her 245 bux just to talk to her! she went on a tapered for a week and quit...and so far..so good..alot cheaper as well...perhaps if u get out ur insurance and match it up with sub docotrs...u can get a better price..this particular doctor did not ask her to go to any counseling but again..i think he was in it for the money and not to help people
