Cousin snorted ibu and vicodin. help.

Cousin snorted ibu and vicodin. help.

What kind of damage could snorting Vicodin and/or Ibuprofin cause. I found out that my cousin did this a few times and I am so sad about it, I want to scare her out of NEVER DOING IT AGAIN. I want to kno the effects cause she really doesn't understnad how the brain works and how this kind of thing can ruin it, I know some but any more information would be helpful. Based on the situation, it is important in her case that I take this approach so please don't question my actions in doing this for her, just answer if you know and don't if you don't know the effects and damage.

I know how it makes you feel, cause obviously she does and told me, I just need to know how it can damage. thanks!

I just wanted to bring this to the top since its been 12 hours and no replies, plus add my 2 cents worth. I don't know what damage it will cause exactly, but many will reply that do know.

If you truly wish to help your cousin then I strongly urge that you spend a lot of time on this forum and learn about addiction, Vicodin, and Ibuprofin.  By doing so, you will eventually have a better understanding of what your cousin is going through and how to be most effective in helping her.  Addiction/dependence is much more complicated than simply being able to scare her out of never doing it again.  Please believe me on this, because I have made some initial mistakes before I learned what I know now. Absorb as much knowledge as you can before even approaching her the first time so that you don't make the mistake of pushing her away, thus lowering your chances of helping her.

Snorting of drugs puts your nose at risk. It can lead to permanent damage to the septum. A few times won't do this but the risk is still there. A bigger risk for her is trying to get high on Vicodin. If she continues down this road, the end is not pretty.

Sherri is right you can get high from snorting them.I have known many that have done it that way.No matter how she is taking them, snorting, chewing, swallowing, the fact that shes abusing them is the major concern.Everyone is right though. You can't scare an addict straight, they can only do that for themselves.Would your cousin be willing to come here and read some of our stories so she can see the path she is headed down?Reading some of our experiences with addiction might at least get her to start thinking and make her see there is help out here and it is possible to live a happy healthy life, drug free.I wish you both the best.Peace.
