Cravings ??

So I am on day 4 because I took a half of a pill last week because I couldn't function that day. Before that I have a week clean. My question is when do the cravings start or should I be having them? Even when I took the half on wed, I didn't want it but was having such bad wd's that I had to so I could get through the day and made sure it wasn't my DOC. It was a day I had several obligations but I took the half and was done again. Just needed to get through for a few hours. I had a christmas party last night and for the first time in 3 years attended it without pain pills. It never even crossed my mind to use. Is this normal to not have any cravings early on? I feel like I need to keep my guard up. I have always been an all or nothing type person. If I can't give something 100% I don't do it and the feeling from kicking this is AMAZING even though it is early I don't want to EVER have any part in my life for pain pills. It has been 15 days since I last used my DOC which was lorcets. Thanks for the input!

Craves will come and go, sometimes they will just pop up out of nowhere. You may goes days without them then blam go days with them. They do stop eventually but it takes some time..I mean it took most of us years to get addicted, so its going to take some GOOD time to get back to normal. Much love

Thanks for your replies! I have to roller coaster moments where I am great one second and the next second down and in pain. I am passed wd's so I guess I had legitimate pain all along but the lorcets masked it. My knees and joints were horrible all day yesterday but didnt use, no sir! I am truly done. Just in the 16 days of not taking lorcets which was my DOC, I have saved 320.00 that would have been straight drug money. That alone pushes me right along! Good luck to all of you! LOVE this forum and the people here!

hey sounds like you are doing great. i quit a couple years ago and have not had a craving since. i am trying to understand how others are fighting with cravings knowing what hell that will bring back. but it is a very real thing for most.

i did hit a roadblock a couple months being clean. i felt that i had beat it and no problems and so i could probably handle getting a perscription for when my back is really bad and not abuse it. but that is a lie and i never got it. and have decided to not even take otc pain meds. so savor in your new freedom and not question it. it is simply what you wanted.
hah(be careful what you wish for...it just may come true)  (:

Hey,  Congrats on your success so far. I was on percs for years cause I trained hard on the weights and screwed up my lower back!  I started using and got up to about 20-22 pills a day! I eventually got sick of it and tapered down.  I last used on Monday Dec 14th. So it's been about 6 days.  I feel so much better. Little bit of anxiety but what do you expect. I still get the odd urge.  I keep asking myself if i take one will it be ok?  But i have to remind myself how painful the withdrawls were, in order to stay clean. Not worth it. Now i figured out that i was taking them just to cope and to go on everyday.  it was a fake sense on me having to take percs. I really didn't even need them.  Anyways,  my point is fight the urges,  easy to slip,  which will make it even harder to stand the next time we use. Merry Christmas from Mark from Toronto Canada..

Once I got over the withdrawal pain and symptoms,I had made up my mind that I would no longer seek the high that opiates gave me.I told my brain, forget it its not going to happen.I found that I was able to control my pain with otc meds very well and did not need opiates in my life.I have no cravings whatsoever because I can get along without them.Altho i do take extrastrength tylenol for my RA pain and maybe that drug satisfies my urge.It has been over 3 months now and I do not crave or even think about opiates.I do take pain pills, but no opiates.I also take all the vitamins that I took during withdrawal and epsom salt soaks.

The cravings come out of nowhere sometimes, and iother times there might be a trigger that will make you think of when you used and it will set your brain to tell you ,lets get high again.
You sound like a very strong determined woman who will be able to stave off acting on any craving you might get,you are probably a lot stronger then you even know.
Good luck in your recovery, stay strong and have the happy life you deserve
Take care...................Nick

Cravings usually hit you out of nowhere.  The last real big one i had i was running the vacuum.  Always keep your guard up as getting clean is the easy part, staying clean is the hard part..........sara

For me if I go in with a very strong mental and I'm not gonna fail attitude, I don't get the cravings. Everyone is so different. Some crave right away, some crave a little later, and some don't seem to crave at all. That 1/2 a pill probably didn't set you back even a little bit. The problem with taking a 1/2 a pill is that it usually leads to 1, then 2, etc. You have went long enough since your original clean date you shouldn't even need a 1/2 a pill. If you feel like you do, it's just a craving. If that happens you need to find ways to put a end to the craving. Try laying down in a dark room listening to music and breathing slowly. Try picking up a good book. Try a puzzle. I hadn't done a puzzle since I was a kid but picked one up and it's amazing how they occupy your mind and make the time fly by. You might think it is boring but give it a try. I would frame them when I was done and hang them up. It gave me something to look at and always remember the fight I went through. Exercise works wonders! I think it is by far the best tool during detox even months down the road. It will just make you feel better overall.
Just keep up the positive attitude. I can tell from all your posts that you are giving it your all. I think 90% of it is mental. If we had the bad flu we wouldn't think anything of it. Granted, it's a bit worse than the flu but you just have to remember that it will pass with time. Each day you go without using, will make you stronger both mentally and physically.
Hang in there, keep moving forward, and never look back!!
Best of luck!
Brian
