Crystal Meth w/D

by Mirpl, 36 minutes
Hi could you suggest the easiest way to stop using meth. A friend started using 3 months ago I believe and now wants to stop. She is scared of detox and has an entire family depending on her. And not much money after bills. I don't know how to help other than babysitting and cooking while she is down . Is there any supplements she may need?

Hi & Welcome to our site! Sorry this was missed but it has been on the slow side lately. Keep checking your post as other will chime in & out.

The big thing is that She has to want to do this for Her! No one can do this for us..however she can make a start by going to some meetings like AA/NA or Church Recovery Groups. It takes Support to stay clean. If she goes to those meetings she will meet people just like her. She will start to learn more about Addiction.
Addiction is a Disease and it can be arrested at some point. The person has to want to to this and WORK hard at staying clean. Lots of changes have to be made, like the people we hang with or the places we go that can cause triggers to use.
You can look up this Disease in a more scientific way too! You both will learn what happens to the Brain and what parts of the brain will take over to use over & over again. Just click in Addiction and the Brain or whatever you can come up with. I had put a few pieces of info in my Journals that I felt helped me alot.
Right now SHE has to come to her own decisions on wanting to get clean.
If she Drinks Tons of water this will help flush out the Toxins too. There are all kind of vit/min we used to help us get through the detox. The w/ds are uncomfortable but they are over soon. It is working on staying this way that takes the cake. Have her come on here and we will help.
I do wish you both the best and just keep checking your post.
Bless

Thank you both for replying. Hopefully she will sign in soon. She started using in May I believe. She has experienced an extreme amount of loss and happen to run into an old friend who had it. I know because I was their.  Anyway I believe she sincere in wanting to stop, because she wants to be their for her kids.  And, she said that it isn't helping her deal with anything only helping her avoid facing her problems. If you happen to think of any more suggestions would appreciate it.  I was addicted to pain killers for years and now thank God I'm off for 2 yrs now. But I don't feel equipped for this because I'm not familiar with it. And you always hear nightmare stories. Thanks again

Welcome to the forum~  Most people that get off methampetamines tend to CRASH and SLEEP.  You helping your friend with babysitting and cooking will be such a blessing to her!
We are ALL scared to detox.....but if we REALLY want to get clean...we stop making excuses for our using and formulate a plan and then do it.
Most drug users are nutritionally deficient....here are just a few supplements she could get:
Emergen-C (all the B vitamins, vit c, minerals, & electrolytes)
Omega Oils
Cal/Mag/Zinc
You can buy Emergen-C most anywhere...they are daily packets you just add to water so they are readily absorbed.
Hope that helps some....you are a good friend~
