Cybalta; The good, the bad and the ugly

My doctor put me on Cymbalta about 3 or 4 months ago for bad depression. It worked great and pretty fast. It also releived some pain.  But I wasn't told how hard it is to get off of. Yes, I should have investigated this, but I didn't. Cybalta is also very expensive if you don't have insurance. About a week ago I decided to start cutting back on my dose. Right now I'm on 60 mgs of Cymbalta, so I went down to 30 mgs. I was fine for 24 hours then BOOM, violently ill. Thought I was just sick, but tried reduceing again, and the same thing happened.
So now I sit here, pretty pissed. I'm now addicited to Suboxone and Cybalta?  Great.

Oh girl can I ever relate. I think that it too needs to be slowly reduced over a long time. Cutting your dose in 1/2 is too drastic. I have heard that daily rigorous exercise will help counteract and after several months of that it will be easier to reduce your dose. If you find another solution, Please let me know! I have been on Zoloft for far too long. I also think that a person could slowly replace the AD with aminos. Upping the aminos slowly as you reduce the AD, but I have yet to find the right method for doing that.

i dont know what to say...i have been on every anti-dperessant and never had a problem getting off them...my depression used to be related to S.A.D, so i only took it in the winters and went off it every spring...
this is my third time on cymbalta...
is this the first antidepressant you have ever been on Magi?
maybe it has something to do with that?  just a thought...
and yes, they are all extremely outrageously priced...
its kind of hard to reduce any slower because they are in capsule form and only (that i know of) come in 30 mg increments...last i knew...
try going back to the 60's, skipping every other day for a while, then maybe even every 3rd day?, then get on the 30's take them daily then every other day, every 3rd day...etc...
its called discontinuation syndrome...it is supposed to be done slowly, maybe ask your Dr if they come in different doses, like 20 or 10 mgs? i dont think they do, but worth an ask...

Im sorry honey...you will get through it....that really *****. What's the reason you want off the Cymbalta? I mean, your not abusing right? So why come off? Its expensive? Well, then I can relate there..

I was getting free samples from doctor too, but now she doesn't seem to be getting any lately. And yes, they only come in 30 mgs or 60 mgs. Guess I'm gonna have to split up the little capsuls and go down very slow.
No, I'm not abuseing the cymbalta...Don't know why anyone would. Their just getting to expensive and at the moment I'm just fighting to keep my head above water and hang onto my house.
Lifesaride,  I'm on 6 mgs of Sub and can't seem to budge from there. Haven't made much effort to, I guess.

how is the weight gain on cymbalta.  I need to go back on but are aftraid i just lost 33 pounds and afraid of gaining.  Yet if I don't go on it is effecting my family.
