DETOX FROM VICODIN?

DETOX FROM VICODIN?

I just found out 2 day's ago my bestfriend is addicted to Vicodin, she says she takes up to 15 pills a day..My question is will she have to be medically detoxed or will she be ok weaning herself  off the pills? Im concerned that if she went off cold turkey it could kill her..I just don't know enough..She is in a facility that is monitoring her but they are wanting to send her home to do it herself because she has no insurance..Any answers or suggestions would be very much appreciated..thanx

Your friend can detox safely but it will be very uncomfortable for her.  She won't die, but she'll have sweats, nausea, severe diarrhea and insomnia anywhere from 3-8 days.  It is very hard to do but if she can get on a drug called Suboxone, she will have a better chance of success.  Good luck to her.

No she won't die.........from Vics W/D

but a nice way to get off drugs is inpatient detox......if she has the means ,,insurance...

There is addiction doctors that weam people off narcotics with Suboxone treatment.......

15 pills a day for how long.........
depending on how long her habit was her worst W/D might just be a bad flu.......

Yes, she can do it herself. My sister & I same boat,  Vics & Percs and no insurance for help. The sub stuff, I hear is very expensive. She has to want to do it. She has to think of detox as a really bad flu. Every detox symtom will pass. She will need alot of support. Family? Friends? And after 5-8 days of the detox flu, its not done. Don't think shes finished and all better. Thats when the mind starts playing games too ( oh, just one pill!). She will need people to talk to about her situation and when she feels weak she'll need a true friend and support system. Hope she can do it! Get her on this forum. Read everything and ask questions. Good luck to your friend.
