DOes effexor help with w/d anxiety/depression?

by Marce4, Feb 09, 2007 12:00AM
Have just started on Effexor to help with the depression and anxiety of vicodin w/d....Has anyone had exprerience with that?  I am hoping 3rd times a charm....I don't think I can go through w/d again!!!!!  Had a 10-15 10mg vicodin/day habit after back surgery and herniated discs.  Have 4 children and a husband and have lost a lot of the joy thanks to my stupidity....thought (probably like everyone out there!) that i could handle this.  I took my last one about 6 hrs ago and am feeling bad already and I know it only gets worse!  Could really use some encouragement and words of advice on how to make this process (and I know I'm going to feel like **** no matter what!) as painless possible.
Thanks for listening and responding...it helps to know I'm not alone!

i'm detoxing from 10-15 lorcet 10 mg a day too. i took 2 vic 5mg today, but that small of amount compared to 3 days ago isnt much comfort. however, i started cymbalta 3 days ago and it really helps...ALOT. this my 3rd detox over 5-6 yrs. the cymbalta is for depression and does something to your brain recptors for pain. stomach not as jumpy, joint
7 leg pain still there but not so severe. my biggest problem is HOT/COLD cant decided which. extremely frustrateing. i think the antidepressant is keeping the tears away too. i have 2 little girls & they are my ultimate goal. your doing good and in the right direction. everyone is different so what works for me may not for others

Was reading your other postings. I pray that you can do it this time! The cold sweats/hot sweats are the worst and the mood swings/hopelessness is debilatating.  I feel sooo guilty because I have four great kids 15, 13,8 and 5 and I can't stand for them to see me like this. I feel like the joy has left my life and there is only making sure I have enough pills to keep me functioning!  How does this happen to all of us!?My husband tells the kids that Mom's sick...ain't that the truth!  I just wish I could zoom to a week from now and be able to say I am drug-free!  Today feels like an eternity and I just started the Effexor yesterday...don't think it works that quickly. The Cymbalta was recommended by my Dr. but due to the red tape of Health Insurance...it's  not covered!!!  Hope the Effexor works as well as the Cymbalta works for you! Thanks for listening!
