it can also be prescribed for depression believe it or not and I would provide a link but I can't on this forum.
Yes it can be for pain but the issue is the doctor must have a license to write for Suboxone......
It is seperate from other medications.........
Did you try to call the service rep on the back of your insurance card they can answer all your questions in a matter of minutes including telling you what doctors in your area who can...............
I don't think your PCP can prescribe suboxone. As I understand it, the doctor has to be specifically licensed to prescribe the suboxone. I may be wrong but that's how I understand it. You might go to Suboxone.com to read about who can prescribe. My pain doc told me that may big primary care offices are having someone in their office get the license to write for suboxone so that they can help their own patients. If your doc can't prescribe it hopefully he can get you into someone who can. I must say I haven't felt this good in so long I don't remember. I have energy, no pain and no thoughts about narcotics. I plan to try to taper off in a couple of weeks, but to be honest if I find that I need it, I'll stay on it to avoid going back to Norco or oxy. I'll be interested to hear what your doc says. Feel free to email me privately too (you just right click on my name) good luck to you.
Lurker, this is very Important to me and I appreciate your response. So if I go into my Primary Dr. tomorrow and tell him I want to try Sub for the pain instead of oxycodone, he can prescribe it? And then I can use that to do a few week Detox. Please respond back. Jay Dean
Yes, it can be prescribed for pain. They use it a lot for people who have a hx of addiction issues. My pain management doc said he has several former heroin users who've had surgery and they have used short term Suboxone for pain management. He has encouraged to up my dose if I have pain issues. I'm not needing it much for withdrawal - seems like after the first two days the withdrawal symptoms were gone but I'm having some pain so I'll try it. I wanted off totally as soon as possible but I don't want the pain to drive me back to narcotics either. I haven't felt this good in so long. I really wish I'd started the Suboxone months ago.
