Darvocet-N 100

Darvocet-N 100

Hi all, I'm new here and I have some questions about Darvocet. I've been taking D for about three months for back pain. The back pain is gone now and I want to stop taking the D. On average I take 4 Darvocet N 100's a day at the dosage of two tablets twice a day. I would like to get off of this medication but have noticed that every time I try to stop taking it, that my body begins to ache and I begin to feel ill. I have to tell you that I don't want to go to my doctor about this because I'm angry at him for getting me on this medication to begin with. I didn't know it was going to make me feel ill to try to stop taking it. He never explained that to me. Can someone please help me to figure out what I need to do to get off this medication so it don't make me feel so bad? Please help. Does this mean I'm addicted to this medication? Is what I'm feeling when I try to stop taking it, considered to be withdrawls?

yes, what you are experiencing is w/ds..the best thing to do is taper down so that you don't feel so bad. Do you think you can do that? (taper)..start cutting down the amount your taking a day and keep stretching the time in between..

I think I can do that.  I have a lot of Darvocet left.  I can cut back to three tablets a day for the first week, and then gradually cut back the dosage by 1/4 tablet three times a day for four weeks, ending with 1/4 tablet three times a day or only 3/4 of a tablet a day at the end of four weeks.  I have enough Darvocet left that I can even cut back further after four weeks if that will help to minimize withdrawls.  What do you think?  Will I still experience withdrawls if I go this slowly?

That sounds like a great plan..I think if you have any w/d symptoms they will be very mild..maybe a little trouble sleeping and fatigue..but I think you'll be pretty good and if you do have any w/d it should be for just a couple days..start taking some vitamins and amino acids..especially some B-12..You sound like you are not mentally addicted to them which is good..because many of us that are mentally addicted have a very hard time tapering. I think your going to do great..

Thank you so much.  I was wondering what vitamins and amino acids that you think would be best?  Can you recommend something specific?  I'm not knowledgeable in this area.  Also, how much B-12 would be best?  That's the vitamin for energy right?  I've taken 500 mg three times a day in the past and didn't notice any difference in my energy so I quit taking them.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am happy to help..I would take a strong multi-vitamin with a strong mineral formula and get the sublingual B-12..it comes in pills that disolve under you tongue and in liquid..I prefer the liquid..there is a product called SAM-E (in your vitamin isle) that contains the amino L-Methionine and another good amino is L-Glutamine 500mg caps..also an Omega 3 (fish oil) is excellent..in the health pages located down on this page to your right is the thomas recipe..it gives suggestions for all the different minerals/vitamins and aminos. There is alot of helpful info in there. Also in my journal I have an article written by a dr. that is excellent..he has something similar to the thomas recipe and i really prefer that..the journal is entitled methadone/opiate..it is not just for people getting off methadone ,it really is for all opiates..there is also alot of awesome info in there..eat alot of protein..and exercise..that is so benefical for the energy department..please feel free to pm me anytime, (personal message) i hope this helps..if you have any questions don't hesitate..this is a wonderul forum with alot of great people..    Lisa

Thank you for the vitamin and amino information.  Can you explain why to take the amino's you have suggested?  Also, can you post me a link to the information that you are refering to in the quote above?  I'm not very familiar with this website yet and if left to me own defenses, I may never find the information you are suggesting.

Gosh, I am so thankful for all your help.  I hope that you aren't nearly as sad as your username implies.  :)
