Darvocet vs. Vicoden??

Darvocet vs. Vicoden??

I know I have asked this question before, but I don't see many people on here trying to quit darvocet.  What is it about Vicoden, tramadol, and not much about darvs??  dunno?

After my surgery they precribes darvocet. I was told it is much weaker than vicodin. Vicodin is the pain reliever of choice for most doctors. It seems that they rarely prescribe darv. That would be my guess on it. They presribe vicodin like it's candy. They seem to think it's the cure all for pain. There are so many other options out there for pain that are non narcotic. The only problem is they don't work as well. I've tried quite a few non narcotics and they don't seem to work.

Seems about right to me. I took a couple of darvocet after surgery on my arm and I may as well have drank a glass of milk for all the good they did me. I guess today vicodin is the Dr's first line of defense for pain. Pull your back, get a vike. Extract a tooth, get a vike. Yea, they really hand them out like candy, but you gotta agree, when you first start using vicodin they worked wonders on pain.

They are the only thing that help with my pain. I just wish they weren't so darn addicting.

My sister was in a serious car accident over a year ago and they wouldn't give her anything for the pain. That is because they found alcohol and coke in her blood. She has been in such pain that the dr broke down and perscribed darvocet. He asked if she wanted perocet or darvocet and she opted for the darvocet. I'm concerned because she is still drinking. She doesn't consider herself a drunk but they gave her beer in the hospital to make sure she didn't go into the dt's before they operated on her. This was the first time I ever heard of them giving someone booze in the hospital.

Beer before surgery?  That seems like a horrible liability.  I can't see any anestesiologist (sic) in his/her right mind doing that.  If your sister told you that and you don't have any way to ensure that it is true, I would question it.

She is the only one who can decide she is an alcoholic.  That story sounds far fetched to me.  Sorry if I offended you.

BTW  Darvocets are junk.
