Darvon verses Vicodin

by Jewels110, Jun 23, 2008 01:37PM
I have been on here to try and get off the Vics because I just don't like taking them but I was taking between 2-21/2 a day for about a year and a half. Anyway I really do have severe neck pain and I can't get it taken care of until the end of the year so my question is would it be better for me to take Darvon because that's what the docs are thinking.  Does anyone know anything about this drug?

Darvon or Darvocet????  I actually preferred darvocet over Vicodin.  Worked as well as the Vicodin for me, although, I don't think it is for Severe pain.  The lesser of the evils but still an opiate>>>>>>>and addictive>

It is Darvon which a little less strong than Darvocet and is a capsule.  I actually had a hard time getting it from the Pharmacy because they didn't carry it but just wondered if anyone has use it. thanks for your post

Thats what I was afraid of.......I would stay away from that stuff.  I took it many years ago, and there is a reason they don't carry it in many Pharmacies.  If you have an addictive personality, don't take it, or be very careful.  I found myself popping 5 at a time twice a day or so.....sometimes more, and a few times found myself drooling on myself in a corner, also, if you take too much, it's a respiratory risk, and I can remember always having trouble with speaking a complete sentence, let alone having a complete thought.  I can't see it doing much if you have severe pain, thats why I worry about you taking more of them.  They are bad news.  PLEASE BE  CAREFUL. or ask your doctor for darvocet, they contain a lot of acetaminophen and you don't want to abuse those, because they will blow your liver.  The darvon have a litttle aspirin and caffeine in them.......yeiks.....I'm rambling.   I just hear darvon and I get creeped out.

Be careful,
Nauty..............

Still an opiate, so be careful.  Also, Darvocet made me very tired, which Vicodin did not.
