Day 11

So I am at day 11 and I feel good physically, besides my shoulder/upper back pain and my mind keeps wanting pills. I've stayed as busy as I can but today seemed harder, mentally. "if only  I could take just 1" has been going through my mind. I still feel like there's something missing in my life, which is horrible because I have a wonderful family that should be all my happiness, which yes it is but it's hard doing "normal" things without taking a pill. I just want my mind to forget about pills, I just want to be happy with my life as it is.

Hi, congratulations on day 11 !!!
Certainly not worth thinking about pills now, you have come way too far : )
Many people who relapse, take that 1 pill and say they felt worse than while they were detoxing.
They thought they would get a buzz and ended up feeling sick instead.
Hang in there, your doing great : )

Getting clean is the easy part, staying clean is the hard one.  Using was only a sympton of this addiction.  There is a driving force that we need to figure out as we bury many demons while actively using.  Find some sort of aftercare.  It works if you work it~

Congrats on 11 days!!!

Blue jay- agree w/ Sonrissa- you HAVE to choose an aftercare.

Also, I say this all the time: although 11 days is great, it is still very very early. You are still detoxing. That means your brain too. And that part takes a while. Don't expect to feel "normal" and appreciative of life right now. You brain is haywire and you haven't made any natural endorphins yet.

Time and aftercare my friend:)

Hate to say it, but in one way or another, the Addictive Beast within all of us sings his seductive songs. At 14 months clean I keep my guard up just like you do now. We all face this temptation, but having a strong defense in place keeps us clean. Aftercare in one form or another.
And being clean is way worth it, no words can measure how wonderful.
So, do not let self doubt plague you, that is another weapon of the Beast, trying to lure you back.
Be Strong!

Hi BlueJay, congrats on the 11 days! I'm glad you are feeling better physically. Staying busy is a good thing and will help. The mental part of this can be especially tough. I understand the feeling of "if only.. Take one pill".  You know that will never work. One pill will not help, and will quickly turn into 2 pills, then 5, then 10, and before you know it.....

Have you decided on some type of aftercare? Now is the time. You will get support and the tools necessary to help you stay clean.  Aftercare is a critical step in this process.

Take care, and keep moving forward. All the best!
