Day 12 Today! Still sweating though??!!

Hi Guys. Nobody would reply in my old post (ten days clean) so I figured I would make a new post. I was just curious about how long the night sweats lasted for most of you. Last time I quit I was in the clear by Day 6 or so. I'm currently at Day 12 right now (just woke up) and my sleep is still terrible along with really bad night sweats. I only get the sweats once I actually fall asleep; they don't come while I am awake. I had to change my shirt and boxers 3 times last night and I only slept 4-5 hours maybe!

I was snorting between 200-240 MG daily for about 6 months. I'm sure it will just take awhile to get back to normal..it would just be great if these sweats would go away!

oh i hear ya..that was the worst for me...i didnt do as much as you,and i was a chewer..prob around 80-100 a day..but i also had them when i was using..i guess its your body's way of getting the poison out..i am trying to remember when they stopped for me i am thinking it was around 2 weeks,i do remember the morning i woke up after sleeping thru the night and dry in the morning lol...i would take sea salt baths they help with that before you go to bed.or epsom salts ,they will stop tho,i hated the sweating more than the bathroom issues....

Sounds like your doing great, I know the sweats bugged me when coming off oxy's but my main problem was with sleep. The last time I quit oxy's about 2yrs ago I was up 240-280mgs daily, tapered down to 40mgs and quit. It was pure hell for 10days but after that I started to feel better each day, I still remember day 21 was the day that I woke up and felt alive again. Sad thing was I ended up relapsing, then onto methadone for a 3rd time, but now Im almost 1yr clean from methadone, clean from sub since Oct.20. Sorry for the back story, but the key is to seek some sort of aftercare when your feeling better. It always seemed for me my motivation to stay clean would only last so long, before I would give into the cravings. This time around Im much more aware of the seriousness of my addiction, so I see therapist twice a month, pychiatrist once a month, along with this forum. I can beging to explain how instrumental this site has been in helping me through my issues. Theres nothing like getting others first hand expierence who you know understands the difficulties that we all face with addiciton. Anyways sorry for rambling, but congrats on day 12, keep fighting, good luck & take care.

I know it's annoying, but mojo is completely right.  It's your body's way of getting all that junk out.  One of my docs (my chripractor) is big on how amazing the human body is, especially it's natural way of healing itself.  I had a horrible flu/cold last winter with a horrible fever...FINALLY one night my body just flushed it all out at once.  I woke up and thought I had wet the bed, haha.  Something like that has never happened to me, so I didn't know what to think of it.  Come to find out it was my body getting the virus out, and immediately for the first time all that week I felt great.  So, personally, the night sweating I'm sure is a great thing.  In the long run, it's just your body flushing it all out and it will just help you feel better and better.  Good luck.

Thank you! FINALLY last night was the first real normal night I have had since I quit. By the way today is DAY 13! I really can't believe I'm still doing this. I know its only two weeks but I am very proud! Anyway, back to the sweating. Last night was the first night in this entire two weeks that I actually got a normal nights sleep. I went to sleep @ 12 and woke up today @ 7. I only woke up once during the night due to some LIGHT sweating, changed my shirt, and was back asleep until I woke up. Soo hopefullly I"m almost through the course...two weeks tomorrow!

i am sorry for not responding before but now i'll tell you why. i am a 46 year old woman who is getting closer to menopause and so i am just not sure when i have night sweats if it's this or that and i am still offended that i'm not twenty something anymore because i have really bad what i call peter pan syndrome. i don't ever want to grow up. i want to stay young forever. yet on the other hand as a wiccan it is an honor to become a crone, so i want to do it gracefully. see why i didn't respond? hope you're not sorry i did now. i am on day 10. congratulations on your time. night sweats suck. hopefully it will let up soon. good luck. peace.   sway

Hi,

I like reading on this site. I had been addicted to vicodin for about 5 years, then I took methadone for 4 1/2 years. Now I am on day 11 of no methadone or opiates at all. I am feeling cold as I sit here, with goose bumps, but I'm sweating at the same time. Its too freaky! I used to be hot all the time, even before opiates. But now I am cold! I guess it will even out eventually. I live in Maine, so maybe I shoulda waited till summer to do this! Ha! Well, today is near 50 degrees, sunny, and you can see the snow deflating! Hopefully winter has turned the corner! We moved from a lifetime of living in North Carolina up here last summer, so not only have I quit opiates, I have survived my first "Yankee winter." I deserve a prize!! Ha!
